Ah I think it only works on our work network...

So the local(ish) choices i have are:
www.samwayscycles.co.uk
http://www.thebikeshopderby.co.uk/
http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/
and Leisurelakes

Ive got my shortlist of bikes, but would be great to find out what more seasoned riders would recommend at this price point... :)

I was in JE James Chesterfield the other weekend and the chap in there was very nice, spent ages talking through some bikes.

They had this in the store - http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/focus-culebro-sl-2-compact-road-bike-id74405.html which looked lovely.

So looking forward to tomorrow. Route planned is 94 miles including Cat & Fiddle, and the weather report shows sunshine and very little wind. :D

It seems like my group isn't riding tomorrow, but I've pretty much pre-cleared the morning for riding with the mrs, so use it or lose it, you know. I'm making last minute plans to do the Iron Man loop and adding a bit on to the end to bump me up to 60odd for the metric century, all being well. I'll have to be out about half seven because I'll be expected home for midday. Not much time for breaks in that, and in any case I'll be hoping to do the IMUK loop in one go so I can get a representative time on the leaderboards.

Not the best pic but thought I should get one up of my FLO30s installed and ready to go.

Which supplier did you use?

I'm assuming your new wheels are also tubs?
Are you using Tufo tape and what tyres?

I'm back and forth over whether to try carbon tubs or stick with clinchers for my road bike! Keep weighing up Wheelsmith website (was thinking of a Powertap but he doesnt use them anymore).

Thomas?

:D

Hurrah, the mrs has just called to say she managed to get to decathlon to pick up one of their cheap speed/cadence sensors for me. I'll let you know how I get on with it - it sounded like a few folk were looking at picking them up.

Nexus 5 (and a few other phones) have ant+ capabilities so I was hoping to hook the android strava into a speed/cadence monitor. Oh well.

I have an ant+ phone.
The Strava app doesnt do ant+ but i found another app which did. Worked fine with my power meter, hr monitor and speed/cadence all at the same time and has the option to upload directly to strava when finished recording.
Kills the battery using ant+ and gps at the same time tho.

Right, I've got my Decathlon speed/cadence sensor fitted on my bike. It doesn't look as neat and tidy as the Garmin GSC-10 sensor, but for half the price I can deal with it. It looks like the second picture on this page, so it has the two pieces with a wire in between, which doesn't look great, but whatever. It comes with four zip ties and two stretchy rubber things for fitting it to the chainstay. I opted for the stretchy rubber things, as I'd rather be able to take it on and off easily for cleaning, but the rubber things are a bit long for going round the relatively svelte chainstays on my Planet X bike, so I shimmed the sensors up a bit with some spare bar tap I had knocking around. They're not as secure as they would be with the zip ties, so I'll have to keep an eye on them. In any case, I've had to bend the speed sensor in quite a way towards the wheel to get the spoke magnet to register. I may be able to sort something out if I arrange the sensors a bit differently. Once I had the sensors in position I switched the Garmin on, went to the right bit of the settings menu and told it to look for the sensors and it found them immediately. I didn't even have to spin the pedals or anything to get it going. So, it's all good. I'll have to see how it plays tomorrow.

FAO: physichull - Late notice, I know, but I'm heading out for a metric century tomorrow morning, all being well, taking in the IMUK loop. I'll leaving my place about half seven and aiming to be home by midday. I'm planning on following a route like this, but I could swing by Hindley crossroads on the outward leg to meet you if you wanted. I'd be there about ten to eight, I figure.

No worries if you can't make it, I know it's last minute. If not, we'll head to your turf sometime, do Dunham Massey.

EDIT: [Damien] as well, if you're not cycled out after Majorca, though I know you don't like the early starts ;)

Be interested to see how this works out - thinking of getting something removable that I can shove on my nice bike to use the turbo during the week. Will save me fitting my commuter to the turbo in the evening when I want to do some intervals
