first lot of stuff for my bike arrived today

Got at least two more deliveries this week and whatever else i choose to buy later on as well! This exercise malarky will get expensive and I'm getting the cheap stuff!

Aye, it costs a bit! I'm still buying cheap stuff two years in!

Normally 1500m of climbing is a nice hilly ride for me- can't imagine doing anything like the Fred off my own back!

I don't think I've even done a ride with 1500m of climbing. I've got a 66 miler in my ridewithgps account with about 1400m in, and even that seems like Everest. I'll not get round to that in a while, anyway, not without getting all the family out of the way for a good chunk of the day.

Great write up, gave me a few flashbacks although the only comments I generally got were "You must be crazy" @ Honister and "You're not cycling up there are you?" @ Hardknott :p

would have loved to do the actual sportive this year but but w/ lack of training and a standard double on the Ti really wouldn't of fancied my chances of getting round :p

You picked the right multi-tool. It's bloody genius!

Hold the front brake and rock the bike back and forth, there shouldn't be any play really. If there is, nip the cap bolt up. If there's still play might be new headset time.

Nipping the cap bolt up will do bugger all. To adjust it you need to loosen the stem, then tighten the cap bolt until there's no play, before tightening the stem back up.

recommended on here ;) attached my water bottle cage tonight with it and straightened my handlebars cos they were hanging too low when i got it last week (rush job and allen key was missing from box!) Just back from a short half hour out doing a 4 mile route (google suggested it should take 24 mins but i had a short stop to allow golfers to play the last hole! So not too bad timewise). Nothing special just getting back onto being on a bike again. The last part is a steep uphill to my house so that killed my legs! :(

Nearly 30 miles this evening, with nearly 1900ft of climbing. May as well take advantage of it being a bit lighter! It got a bit chilly by the end of the ride, and on the long descent I wasn't pedalling much at all, so my left leg was freezing when I got to the bottom, and took a bit of time to warm up again. Quite a good run, all told, though the wind did slow me down when I was heading West.

I checked his Strava to make sure he was still alive after i heard a couple of guys got airlifted from it :(

From what I read on the Fred Whitton Facebook, the chaps that came off are alright so that's good news. I saw one had been reunited with his bike which is now in two bits!

Great day - very enjoyable, weather was kind. First sportive ever.

Got to be careful at the start that you don't get pulled along at daft pace with the various waves' going off every 2 mins. 5000 plus people on the roads (closed) but you need to be super careful around you all the time.

All good - had a little struggle getting back into a pedaling rhythm after the long downhill. Climb was a few short sharp climbs (granny ring stuff).

But seemed to come back to me around 60 miles and felt fine for the last 20. Slowish time as my mate struggled from around 55 miles all the way. Was having to stop and slow right down the drag him along with us. Could have been a good 30 mins quick I think.

All in - excellent day, super well organised, great route and would definitely do it again!

Great stuff.well done on that. I am going on hols to that area in August so that looks a nice route for me to do.

Wiggins going well in the TOC TT. He's looking very lean and competitive so far!

Back to Australia now, first ride last night, power OK but fitness felt down a bit and obviously carrying 2-3lb extra weight.

Thats dammits! he owns the road with the conductive Di2 paint as well!

Nice to see my Talbot back up on the frames page too! woop!

so there's only one built? quite a rare sight then! :) saw him near brixton hill.. was behind him for a few minutes, then he was behind me for a couple of miles before disappearing ;)

genuinely loved the bike! - not often I say that..

Not sure what you mean by 'only one built?'

but yes its lovely, cant miss it either!

well the fact that they have those bikes with prices on their website I thought they got "here are our official models, order and we'll get one built?" kinda thing going?

Ahhh, yeah well they're all made to order and every bike is different, his is the only one currently but having some 'standard' models helps set prices easier

You won't see one that flashy around for sure too, its got a powermeter and everything

must be worth 4k at least then.. :) he was of course covered in rapha gear haha ;) I tried to get him to race me but he wasn't having any of it! track standing at 2 traffic lights was good fun tho.. :o

Just about to spend 170 on some starter road gear on wiggle.

Anyone have a discount code they are not going to use?

Thought I might as well ask before I press order.
