Out of interest then, what does everyone run.

Shim 105 cassette 12-25
Shim 5700 170 / 39-53 for me.

I really aught to get a proper bike fit done. I'm still aching from Sunday and that's after having an Osteo session last night as well. :o

Im on 12-27 and 34/50

but have no idea if it is good or bad or.... ?
;)
it cycles lol

The pump I bought is faulty... Checked today with a guy from my local bike shop and he pumped the tyre to 120PSI with an ease. When I placed my pump on to the valve it only showed 100PSI and it was nearly impossible to take it off.

What pump would you recommend me? I don't want to spend too much though...

Edit:

This is the pump that the guy used, at the bike shop

joe blow is the one I have - never had any issues with it

Ooops, think I need a new tyre :( Just locked up for a quick stop, was getting a bit thin anyway, anyone any suggestions, just need pure speed for a disc wheel.

Ride out this afternoon doing a loop around the Trough of Bowland, i cycled to the meet point from work (everyone else drove) then cycled home, completed the Gran Fondo 5 challenge anyway. :)
It was a constant (wild at times) headwind for the 20 miles to the meet point and then for a 1/3 of the ride (it was also cold, wished for my leg warmers) then the rain came before we got to the cafe stop at Chipping.
Nice ride after that, sun came out and the tailwind most of the way back was very welcome.

As there is talk of gearing I was on the wifes Allez that i'm using as a temp wet bike, 52-39 with 12-27, best bike has 50-34 and 11-28.

This may sound retarded, but are they just a standard fit onto all chainsets? Basically I have a bike back home I haven't used for yonks, but was considering making use of it once I'm home from university... at the moment it just has flat pedals... could I just buy the above, or similar, and fit them? :o

Yep.

Yup, just whip the old pedals off and stick the new ones on and away you go.

Buddy texting me "It's going to be nice Sunday".... I think he's just living in a dream world TBH
Still I might actually get chance to do something to the Landy if its peeing down.

My groin still hurts from Last Sunday :( :(

90 miles heading south though, It's all downhill from there :p

3.5k feet of climbing. That's more than I do in most weeks :p

But from what I've seen of maps I think you're right ;)

Sounds painful and also a TMI situation :p

Weather looks better on Sunday for us here too but I think it's worth getting the pain out of the way.

Tough handicap race today, but not too long which was good.

36.3km, 639m elevation so lots of climbing, two laps of a CAT 3 finishing at the top on the second lap.

Avg Max
Speed 30.9km/h 85.3km/h
Cadence 86
Power 289W 939W
Weighted average of 300w.

Close to my best numbers I've produced but still not feeling at my best, need to gain a bit more stamina yet I think.

The second time up the climb I cracked half way up, I had been doing a lot of turns on the flat to try and stay away which won't help and we had been caught by the scratch group at the bottom of the climb so the pace was quicker, but not super fast. I started the climb on the front of the group knowing I would probably slide back a little, but it kicked up steeper and I couldn't hold on. I dropped 45 seconds on the second half of the climb compared to the first time round.

It didn't matter in the end as we didn't catch all the groups who were in front of us so they took all the placings in the end!

Lost my drink AGAIN, becoming a real pain. I've changed the cages to the Elite cages as used by most of the pro teams, using the Elite bottles that should clip in but it still bounced out! Super stiff frame, poor roads and I'm using a large bottle, so perhaps when its half empty the water sloshing can help it gain some momentum. Its annoying and dangerous. Not sure what to do, add skateboard grip tape or something to the cage to try and retain it, or use 500ml bottles not 750?!
