I haven't got tubular , I've got tubeless using stans tubeless kit. Any ideas?

As yes, misread that. :o
Sorry, i have no idea about tubeless.

(you could ask over in the big bike thread though, those mtb boys are into that sort of stuff)

Went out on the singlespeed today for the first time in a few weeks. It really is the most comfortable bike I have and I appear to be able to generate the most power / speed on it (given the limiting factors of it being single speed and not having a power meter on it).

So I've spent this evening with a spirit level, set square and tape measure going over every square inch of the Peugeot and the Cervelo.

Initial measurements are:

Pug Reach 400mm
Pug Stack 560mm

Soloist Reach 394mm
Soloist Stack 560mm

So pretty much the same, and yet they feel very different.

First I looked at the stem. The bars are 20mm lower on the Soloist so I raise them 15mm. Quite a big jump. The stem on the Soloist is also 10mm shorter but I'm going to see how I get on.

Quick test ride but still not the same.

So I check saddle position. Distance from bb centre to saddle top is the same (765mm) but the saddle tip on the Soloist is 60mm back from the bb centre compared to 40 mm on the Pug. Obviously the seat post angle on the Pug is substantially greater than Soloist.

The saddle on the Soloist is already as far forward as it can go so there is only one thing for it; flip the seat post........

That has got a crazy amount of layback! Also don't discount the frame material. My Dolan and the old Russian bike are set up almost identically, but I can hammer along with much less effort on the Russian one. The alloy frame on the Dolan is comfy and smooth but it's got no spring to it so, it absorbs a lot of energy.

It doesn't lay back like that when it's the other way round; it's not the whole seatpost that I've spun, just the bracket which is reversible.

73 degrees in one position and 76 in the other.

Finally got out for a reasonable ride on my new bike this evening, lots of people in groups or clubs and then there was me out on my todd.

Even so, I really enjoyed it and wish I hadn't turned back when I did as I could have kept going for another few miles at least.

I have realised just how badly I need to get some padded shorts though...

Being encouraged to climb bigger hills, do longer rides, time trials, sportives, audaxes, velodrome sessions, riding in all weathers, eating lots of cake, spending more money on bike goodies/bling/events/riding kit.

Not saying these are bad by the way.

Best thing I did joining my local club.

I don't like Mavic wheels for the sole reason they use stupid proprietary parts. I'd go for cheap wheels and upgrade down the line.

yeah they don't seem to get good reviews which is a bit surprising :)

I'm a bit torn between -;

http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/bike/ros...-poVF-OJPx-NLr0-poZ3-poYQ-poXw-poXx-k22x-k22y

or Ribble -;

http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/bbd/r...BB14ARIB7005SPORT&sub=conf_BBRA&bike=1#Wheels

with ultegra 6800.

pro's of ROSE

feels a bit more special?
good/light wheelset
looks great
light

cons -;

older 105(5700)
4-5week delivery(I know I know)
overpriced tyres that'll be replacing

pro's of Ribble

Obviously the groupo
quicker to build/receive
uk company(dadada)

cons

MEH wheelset - which would be fine for my riding anyways
probably heavier - weight not stated anywhere
very MEH looking

any other suggestions for 1k?

I Think I want alu frame, after yesterdays crash and the beating my rear triangle took I feel like carbon is a bit too much for my all-year-round commuting.

any input is very welcome, I know I've been going on about this for ages but I don't like doing mistakes when it comes to purchases no matter how small or big.

Looks like someone sat on the handlebars on the rose before installing and removed half the drop :p

Just the picture.. You can ask them to flip the stem over for more aggressive position.. :) thinking about it.. I'd be painting it anyway so looks etc don't bother me too much.

If it's ultegra vs 105 I'd be inclined to go with ultegra, you can always upgrade to a nice set of wheels when you've destoryed the set that come with the bike and you'll have a better bike than if you'd bought 105.
