Oh cool!
Just doing some googling and I have realised that there is a visor available for my TT helmet (lazer tardiz)! Didnt know that! Ordered one, hope it arrives before my 50 on saturday.

What, why would you, even? Surely 10 is enough pain?

Ah, thanks for the heads up! I was waiting to see if the option appeared on the website as I don't use my mobile to track my rides any more (I should do, they show as being more hilly on the app than on my Garmin :p ).

I'll stick with entering it manually as part of my post ride Garming Connect / Strava / Veloviewer / MFP- have I earnt a cake/beer/pie routine :o :p

You can change the setting on your mobile and it will still work with stuff you manually upload to the website. Just an FYI :)

Also, I worked out a way around this but it's only feasible as I don't really use MFP for anything other than kcal counting (i.e. I set my own goals, macros, etc). I've manually set my MFP weight to ~40 lbs below my actual weight. Now when Strava syncs a ride to it the estimated kcal on MFP are about right. This works for me as I don't really care what weight MFP thinks I am (though I have a fairly accurate weight noted down on Strava).

Haha, I literally have no idea what I was thinking :p

We were talking about it on the drive home from our race last weekend. One of the other guys is doing it and there are no road races on that weekend.

This was sunday evening, so i figured i was too late to enter but said i'd check britishcycling website and have a think about it.

Looked up my calendar on britishcycling....I already have a wee tick beside this race to show i have entered? No idea when i did that :(

First ever early morning outing this morning - couldn't sleep got up and out the door for 6.20am (early for me!)

26 miles - nice and quiet and back in time for the school run and a days work. Felt good on just a coffee and a banana!

Happy days! Just had a job offer, and the company seems to do cycle to work! Justifiable to get on board the scheme when I'll be living within a 5 minute walk of the office? I'll need to make the most of the next few months living in Perth and hit the traffic free hills hard before moving back to the traffic and relative flatness of Glasgow. Is it wrong that I'm mainly excited at the prospect of being able to afford a shiny new bike soon?

Just had my first proper near miss today! A car pulled out onto the road almost taking me out! I saw him approach the junction so shaved off a bit of speed just in case, lucky I did! Both brakes on and a massive slide from the rear wheel resulted in me missing his rear quarter by mere inches. Fuming.

this is pretty much a daily thing for me now :| worst one I had was coming down a big hill at 35+ I saw a car waiting to pull out - traffic everywhere so she had no space to go and she was looking straight at me, my front light on blinking(that's during the day no sun etc, perfect visibility) and then as I was probably 15-20m from her she just randomly pulls into my path and stops in the bus lane between the traffic and a curb!

had literally no space to go.. both brakes on.. rear locked.. I'm coming down the hill at massive speed, pedestrian screaming at her as he saw what was going to happen but I'm not sure how but I managed to find the SMALLEST gap between her rear and the curb and SLIDE past the darn car... my blood boiled up at that moment and I was inches away from smashing everything that she was related to.. stupid stupid stupid bint.. even now it makes me angry.

oh and that killed my rear tyre too which was NEW.. had a massive flat spot that you could feel as you rode over flat road.. - down to the kevlar.. I was on my brakes for 20+ meters..

Nothing wrong with that at all :D Any bikes in mind?

 That's pretty ridiculous. Stuff like this is what makes me think I need to get a helmet cam so I can report idiots like that to the police (not that they would do anything).

Sounds good. I wish I wasn't so groggy in the mornings! It would be great to get out before work.

A Bambino and set of deep Chinese rims would cost more than the bike!

I think I'm looking more along the lines of second hand Giro Advantage or Kask K31.

It's all about the accessories, or so my wife keeps telling me.

They are the only cool TT helmets in existence though, I'd love one for track riding.

 You have clearly forgotten about the POC

Probably a Rose. Tempted by Sram Force over Ultegra, but I've got a few months to have a look around and maybe get a test ride on my brother's Rose, try and get a test of something with Force on it, and maybe test my other brother's Giant. I've no idea how heavy the frame on my current Raleigh is, but the prospect of having something close to 7kg is damn exciting :D

At the cafe the other week we were talking about extreme TTs and one guy was talking about someone in his club who does day records, like how far you can do in a day. They have a 100 mile TT course and see how many laps they can do in a day. This guy managed 5 laps and a bit more besides.

Rose are German, sure they take your cycle to work vouchers?

Nope they won't, but the Rose would be a present to myself in the near future. The cycle to work would be at a later date if I decided to go for it; I don't think I can do it in the middle of the financial year anyway. If I moved further from work I'd look into using it for a commuter.

I tried to "TT" the relatively flat 61 miles between Ventura and Los Angeles on the final day of my California ride. Since it was the last day I didn't hold anything back although I did have 480 miles in my legs at this point.

I managed to do it averaging 19mph which I thought wasn't too bad and I was second fastest on the segment. The KOM did it at 22mph average. Beast.:(

Then that guy is EXTREMELY classy

the national 24 hour record is 541 miles....

Lol I did a ride yesterday going about as fast as I could and only managed 13.9ph average (my usual is about 12mph so not much difference lol)

barely any wind either I got a few Personal best segments though I guess the ones I didn't beat were done with a tail wind

Once I hit around 17-20mph It's like I hit a wall and can't go any faster :(
Personal best One hour of 24.77 km which is a 449.4 m improvement.

Point's where I pretty much come to a stop are mostly dogs (one dog cost me 10seconds ffs it's owners were about half a minute up the path....) getting in the way or stupid barriers to stop motorbikes going along the river side/horse gates
I guess I should start doing more short rides trying to be quicker like above to work on my speed or do intervals?
