Argh, another broken spoke! Cheap-ish (£70) factory built wheels aren't quite built for my 110 kg self (down 9 kg in two months though!).

Getting some a handmade rear 36 spoke Mavic Open Pro on a Shimano 105 hub sent out tomorrow from http://www.harryrowland.co.uk !

Built to last :)

Thinking of going for the cannondale supersix evo as my next bike.

If you had the choice would you go with Full SRAM red or ultegra di2?

Well I completed my 100 miler..shame my phone died and was resetting on a loop from the water getting to it!

Some of the worst rain I've cycled in ever never mind over that distance.

Average speed is too high due to the mess up while it was paused. I left at 5.15 got there at 11.30pm and I'd say I stopped for about 45 minutes(sausage supper, two mars bars, two cokes and a bottle of ribena :) ) in total which gives about 18mph average which I was happy with.

racing = sram red

everyone else = Di2

on this same note, I can do you a stonking deal on a current 2014 model if your genuinely up for buying 1.

Im looking at the one on Pauls cycles at £2099 which is the 2013 frame which i thought was a pretty good deal.

After having a look around the net ive read the 13' and 14' frames are pretty much the same.

Max speed of 392kph! Scratch group for you at the APR tomorrow night!

only "issue" with that model is that its all old discontinued 10 speed parts so in the future Di2 parts might become more tricky to source. Having been there already with Di2 dura ace 1st gen and struggling to find parts to fix customers bikes it becomes a real pain.

pm me in trust what size you need and I ll see what I can come up with :)

First ride on the 25mm tyres today, much smoother ride and the bike didn't feel any slower at all. Only negative is that they are a tight fit under the front caliper so much so that when it's wet and the tyre picks up grit it rubs, but no biggie.

Felt better this morning, but then my riding was just as bad. Able to turn the pedals over at 230-280w ok, but any more than that just wasn't happening, I'd drop back on the short climbs where people punch it out the saddle then get back on before the flats.

Rode in the bunch and went up the climb with the slow guys, 2.5 minutes down on my best. Few turns on the way back to town but nothing really, I normally like to hammer it!

Oh well, hoping I get better in a few days, rain forecast so I wanted to get a couple of rides in the bank as the next few days will be a write off so I can rest up a bit too.

I too felt better this morning on my ride to work after having two days off the bike. I think it was a much needed break and my legs feel much stronger and fresher because of it. I think I need to take more rest days in the future, I seem to have been underestimating them.

It's amazing the difference it makes. I had back-to-back days off for the first time in a while on Friday/Saturday, then went out on Sunday and felt, and rode, as well as I ever have. The problem I find is convincing myself at the time that a day off is a good thing. It's so tempting to go and squeeze in a half-arsed ride instead.

I never have days off, but I cross train. Took me ages to learn the trick of it as well, so if my legs are tired I'll just do an hour in the pool.

I'm training for a duathlon that goes up a munro at the moment and had hoped to do hill running on my days off the bike. Problem is it wrecks my legs far more than any amount of cycling. I'd been used to running along the river in Glasgow on completely flat terrain and the switch to running up hills has been a thigh killer. I've been meaning to start swimming for the past 18 months for tri/cross training but just can't find the desire, fingers crossed that this winter I get off my arse and do it.

Yeah. It's so easy to skip rest days but whenever I do actually take one I also feel infinitely better the following day.

Ah well, no rest days until Saturday for me this week... :p

Hey guys, my new wheel is coming with the new Shimano 5800 hub, which is now 11 speed. Will I need a spacer to ensure the correct fit with my Tiagra 10 speed?
