Sure looks like the chain is too short, is it cross-chained at the mo?

to release the chain I'd try to roll the chain onto a smaller chainring, or off the bottom if needed

Yeah, it is crossed chained I've managed to get it to release but it will not go back into the 32 cog without jamming. going to shout at planet x now!!

45 miles this morning. One of the hardest routes we have in our repertoire, loads of climbing. I've not done some of those hills since April last year, so plenty of PRs for me, which I'm pleased with. I could have gone a bit quicker, but we had a couple of people with us who were struggling a bit, so we slacked off at times to let them catch up. One lad is pretty new to things, and he only has a 26t on his cassette, where the rest of us have at least 28t, so he struggled a bit, but he got there. He's still not had to get off on a climb, though, so he's doing well! One girl who was with us knows the route, so was not happy as soon as we announced where we were going, whereas this lad didn't know what was coming, so he was a bit scared when we got to the top of the first few hills and were telling him we were only just warming up for the real climbs. I remember feeling like that when I didn't know my way around and didn't know what was round every corner!

I'll probably try to do a similar route to that again sometime, but I'll head all the way to Blackburn and then back out again along Roman Road, which is another long climb, which would probably get you a ride of 50 miles with over 4000ft of climbing. I'll probably do that on my own at some point, so I'll be a bit freer to press on at my own pace, and I won't have to feel like a loser for sucking on all the descents :p

I'm at just shy of 2250 miles for the year now. Over 100 miles ahead of where I was last year. I should hit 2500 by the end of this month, and I should hit the rough target of 3000 by the end of October, and then anything in November and December will be a bonus, given how busy I'll be at work and how grim the weather is likely to be!

yea people leave you as little room as you let them.
the hugging the pavement is crazy you need to at least be far enough across that you won't be riding over drains and I've seen a few with the slits parallel to the kerb, I can only imagine the front wheel getting stuck and the rider flying over the bars

Yep, had a guy in a van open his door on me today then looked surprised when he saw me. Luckily I was riding far enough out from the cars.

does anyone know the nut type/size that id need if I were to put on onto a threaded C02 cartridge?

I have a waterbottle cage which is threaded to hold a co2 cartridge but when I cycle it loosens and falls off. was going to put a nut on the other side to stop if falling out.

Try putting some ptfe tape around the nut maybe?

We took our bikes over to my mother in law's this afternoon, so we've had an hour or so bimbling around the park. I racked up a whopping 3.5 miles at about 4mph :p Still, that's not bad for the kids!

Well I took the advice I read on here a few weeks ago about increasing ride distance. It's nowhere near as daunting as it first seems to be honest. I usually do ~23km and I did a 46km ride today, my average speed was down a little to the shorter rides but I'm chuffed with it.

I also rode to Calke Abbey today. Lovely to ride through.

So I am able to purchase Dura-Ace 7900 or Ultegra 6800 for the same price, both used. What would you go for and why?

Ultegra 6800. It will be everything that the old DA was, and an extra gear :D I haven't got first hand experience with the old DA but i am confident you wouldn't miss anything it has to offer by taking newer ultegra.

These were my thoughts exactly, the weight saving are negligible when you're a veritable lump like me [84kgs].

Also, 3 punctures in the front wheel in 3 days with the new wheels, I think its the tyre though as the back wheel has been fine. Very annoying though, especially as the pro4's in black 25mm are out of stock on wiggle. Will have to wait until I'm back from Sziget.
