I won a place on the Chain Reaction Cycles Tour of Britain VIP ride in Brighton. From what I can gather it's basically riding the last part of the stage 7 route before the race gets there, around 30 miles of it. I'm not sure I'll go though as it's a 400 mile round trip - a long way to go to ride 30 odd miles for a free jersey!

If you want/can donate! I'm down that way :-P

Depends if group riding is your thing and how much train tickets would be, really.

I've asked them to clarify what will be happening on the day, but if I do give up my place I'll ask about transferring it.

It isn't in general, but this is a slower pace ride 15mph average apparently. I wouldn't go on the train though, not with bike that far.

Killing time before hopefully getting to pick up my wheels tomorrow. I have some mudguards i could put on, but they attach under the brakes. Which means that in order to install/remove them, i'd have to readjust the brake cable each time. I wonder if i could cut the top of the hole so they just slide in...

a brake caliper should be able to slide on and off without disconnecting the cable

Anyone here use Castelli nanoflex arm and knee warmers? Looking for arm/knee warmers as it can be a little chilly in the mornings now and these seem to the most popular contenders!

Got them here, perfect for the chilly stuff, but once it gets that bit colder they aren't as toasty, but they do have the added benefit of wind and splashproof, and they fit great.

So...cycling the Newcastle on Friday (part of the way, not from Manchester sadly). I was initially looking at Carlisle > Newcastle but Middlesbrough > Newcastle looks like it might be easier in terms of train times and all that.

Has anyone cycled the Three Rivers route? How did you find it? It's only about 45 miles by the looks of it and without much climbing. I would be a little worried that my 25mm tyres would struggle if the path is bad but as long as it's not any worse than the TPT I reckon I can do it. With the reduced distance it wouldn't matter if I had to go a little slowly either.
