I'm going to have to stop commuting now till I get a new light...the 2 I have are with pressure switches on the back to switch mode, trouble is the vibration from some of the crappy roads round here can trigger them. Coming down hill at in the dark unlit road is pretty scary when it switches to strobe or low power mode :S

ShiWarrior: Were you perhaps coming down Piddington hill on Wednesday night (6.30ish)? High-vis jacket over your handle bars? Not stalking....promise... I was the numpty with lots of crap lights going up the hill ;)

nope not I

1) I wouldn't put any clothing over the handle bars
and 2) I don't go on the bike late on Wednesday, I go out in the morning :)

what are your lights ?

Understood, I see tons of cyclists around the area so not sure why I thought it might be you.

I have this and as backup a Cree Q5 but I have both on because I just don't trust the Canwelum to not change modes/turn off.

You Earned Strava Premium

Chris, nice work on the ground you covered last month! By riding more than 250km in the Monthly Training Series challenge you earned a free trial of Strava Premium. Premium gives cyclists like you even more ways to stay motivated and train effectively.

my Knog Blinder R turned up today, blimey its bright !
it has 4 red LEDs, max output 70 lumens

I decided to get it because my other rear light takes 2 AAA batteries, so because im not charging it eery night, I don't know when its going to die on me..

had it for less than 2 months before the rubber strap gave up.

done with knogs now! 3rd knog that did this

That PX looks like a cracking deal. Tempted. :)

ShiWarrior - Watched a couple of vids on Youtube of those Knog Blinder lights. They are certainly eyecatching!!

Am I right in thinking you have a matt black one? Or was that a different Planet X bike? Or am I just plain wrong..?

I'm assuming the XL will be okay considering I'm 6'3"? The deal says it finishes in a week and an hour, but I think that must be wrong and it's finishing tonight... so I can't go and try beforehand... the size guide says yes, but obviously it's quite a lot of money :p.

Nope, mines a Holdsworth stelvio frame set, custom painted with SRAM rival groupo :)

I wanted the above but a week before buying they decided to raise the price to 1.2k which pushed it out of my budget back then :)

90km race today.

Not too bad today. First hill was pretty easy. Went over wth the front guys but then it all came back together. Hard to move up in such a large peloton as we are limited to the left hand side of the road so not much chance to pass when its three or four riders wide.

Went with the top 20 guys on the final 8km climb but started blow at 5km to go and dropped back a bit. Recovered a bit by 2km to go but didn't go full gas as wanted to save my legs a bit until tomorrow, dropped 3 minutes by the top. Going to try and aim for top 25 anyway but going ok.

Was 48th after the TT and moved up to 33rd after today.

Smashed down with rain after 75km which was dangerous and miserable! Carbon tubular rims in the rain no good!

I find cold easier to deal with than rain! Mainly because I crash all the time in wet!

Have you thought about investing a little more in tyres and brake pads?

In other news, but Canyon is now in UPS's Croydon depot for delivery on Monday. Pity I have to wait for Monday.

Very excited, in case no-one had noticed.

Canyon as a company really are shoot. Just reading a bloke on BR has just hat his Aeroad CF SLX delayed from next week until the middle of February. He was told it was due to a delay on a component, but when he refused to let that lie he was finally told that the missing components were the frame and the fork..........

He ordered in August.

Had my crud roadracers for a few years, front is a bit worse for wear. GF needs something for the winter on her bike so I've just ordered 2 new sets of the mk2's.

Could do with them for tomorrow, but it was cheaper for me to order two pairs in the UK than pick one up locally in the US.

Got caught out today. Despite the roads being mostly dry there was one patch of black ice I didn't see. Lost the front wheel and landed shoulder first. No lasting damage but quite a large patch of roadrash despite 3 layers of clothing.

First time I've also hit my head on the tarmac. No way I'd ever ride without a helmet and would probably still be laying on the ground now if I hadn't been today. Bikes fine thankfully.

Yeah, my tyres are 20 a pop.. And brakes are good :) crashed 2 times on the same cycle path that I posted a video of.. And once after loosing my front on wet DLR tracks.. !

Croydon eh ;) few minutes from me.. Your delivery might get delayed, what size did you say it was?

I've decided to not go out tonight for this very reason

as I left work, my feet where sliding around in the car park as I walked to the car

picked up my 653 Record tubed ribble steely from Argos in Bristol today. Looks amazing in flamboyant red

frame weighs 1800g and fork 640g, pretty damn good for lugged steel. Before I stripped it it was built up (just) sub 9kg. A few component changes before the rebuild should see that drop a touch, I'd be happy with 8.8kg
