I'll do that this weekend unless I get a response before then, will confirm how much of my money they've taken first!

I don't get the appeal of Brompton's (maybe I've not been cycling long enough...) but that looks pretty awesome :p

Sold back wheel too? Proper TT style! ;)

Can imagine you putting the hurt on some single speed yuppies! You need the cycling equivalent of abusive bumper stickers ;)

No one makes a small enough disc wheel. I will be wearing my TT helmet at the Brompton World Champs this year though.

Long day at work

So, things are looking up with Canyon.

Missing mudguard and bar bits and bobs have arrived, but still nothing on the FD support plate.

They've credited my account £100 as well, so now I'm browsing heavily. I need an 11sp chain tool and and a set of quick link pliers, so that leaves me with £70.....

At the moment I'm thinking about getting a 52t chainring so that I can run 52/36 at the front (16t being the max jump a Shimano FD can cover) so I get almost standard double at the top and compact at the bottom or a Uvex City V helmet for looking uber on the pursuit Brompton.

Thoughts?

Helmet bling is the clear winner :p

Sounds good though. I'd probably be happy..ish with that outcome if I had the same issues as you have had. If I do get round to ordering the same bike in the new year it will be interesting to compare experiences actually.

Road cyclist in London in general are quite slow ;) I do like that brompton tho! Would totally rock it haha.

Aren't you a road cyclist in London? ;)

I read an article somewhere which said they last a good long time. I'll see whether I can dig it up.

It said that some of the bike messengers in London are moving over to them, which is a pretty ringing endorsement.

Here's one. Not the one I'd originally read, but this one quotes a lifetime of 9,000 miles

Nice. The article I read a while back I'm sure said something more like 2000 miles. 9000 would be great as it would mean I could not worry about tyre replacement on my commuter for a full year. Bliss.

Delivery literally just arrived!

Think this will keep me going for a while. Not bad for £46, and I should be able to sell the bottles for about £25 total after fees on ebay :P

I could use another bottle, if you want to save one and I'll buy it off you, when we meet up?

You're a machine!

Although I've just got through an SiS endurance pack (the cheapy wiggle ones with feb best-before date) and figured out I prefer the High5 gels drinks & tabs. The only SiS one I actually liked was the bannana protein/recovery shakes. The electrolyte drinks actually gave me terrible wind and the blackcurrant one almost made me throw up during a ride on the weekend!

So High5 tabs and gels all the way for me, although I always seem to get Cherry tabs and they're my least favourite lol

Actually chose to drive to work today as the high winds didn't sound like fun... It's really weird warm weather/wind here too?!

Also Feeling a few aches so was due a rest day - new bike fitted to me obviously taking it's toll over my old non-fitted bike I'd adjusted myself... Still I keep telling myself it's to make me faster! :p

Are looking at protein/recovery shakes/supplements a good idea when I'm doing nothing special for my diet? (which I consider to be quite good, I've lost over 2 stone the last year) Or should I just look to change my riding so I have more recovery rides (currently mondays), rather than increasing rest days?

Now I've got the turbo and enjoying my weekend rides I aim my rest day to maximise the weekends, so usually thurs/fri. Previously I had them mid-week (Weds) to help my commuting (don't need 'help' anymore!)

Singlespeed road bike with mudguards for commuting. Always the answer.

Oh, the two options are not for the same use! :D Didn't make that clear.

CX bike would be used for racing/South Downs rides in the summer!

Single Speed wise, what's pretty good out there? Presuming £500 would get me something pretty decent?

Westbrook looking like they may have some good deals on di2 again, although not as good as last time. Decisions decisions.

Which products would you recommend for giving a groupset a good clean & lubrication?

Picked up my (the first - Boardman comp) road bike yesterday and it needs a little TLC in this area.

The rear mec wasn't picking up the last two gears, I had a play with some of the limiting screws and got it to work, though now it's dropped the highest gear. Got a feeling the fact it's filthy will be having something to do with it.

(I'd get it serviced if my local shops had availability before christmas, it'll be in early in the new year for sure.)

I already have citrus degreaser/pre wash for the car and a heap of other detailing products.

Once it's clean what should I be putting and where?

Thanks.

I read that WD40 isn't a great long term lubricant? Is there anything my local Halfords store or any high street shop will stock that would do?

Halfords offer a range of cycling specific lubes. I've got about 10 different half full bottles of wet, dry, oil based, wax based, etc, and I can't really notice a difference between them.

I like the wax ones because you can see it on the chain easily as you turn the crank so you know what's been done and what hasn't.

halfords have a nice offer on at the moment: http://www.halfords.com/cycling/too...kit?cm_re=10cms+slides-_-Slide+1-_-dotdmucoff
