I know tube repair patches are a thing but do testicle repair patches exist? :p

Talking about food, I currently use Kellogs Nutri-grain bars. The soft bake style is easier to consume on the bike I find. Soreen? That stuff is waaay too chewy. You have to stop breathing to eat it!

Nature Valley Crunchy Oat Bars & Banana's. Hnnnng.

They're basically just Hob-Nobs but in rectangular form and marketed as 'breakfast' material so therefore the masses perceive them to be inherently healthier...

I am partial to the occasional Ferrero Rocher or Lindt Lindor :D

Leave gels for racing. Have proper food if you're not

They've become popular among recreational riders because they contribute to that "pro look"

I sometimes take gels with me, but they're a last resort. I'd much rather take energy bars or other real food. As much as anything else, gels don't fill your stomach, so it still feels empty!

i then need an 11 speed link to attach?
Yes. Although as noted it's tricky, it's certainly worth trying to reuse the chain pin you're breaking with. QL's are expensive to buy, it is probably worth changing chain to a new chain supplied with them, rather than buying them separately. Then save them for future chain usage. One reason why I like SRAM chains.

If you're breaking a chain, a quality breaker will save you lots of hassle. I went through 2 cheap ones until I got my Park Tool and it makes life so much easier.
Talking about chains: mine is absolutely disgusting. Best way to clean it? And then re-lube? Also, who make good chains? Are the KMC ones pretty good? And what's the deal with amount of chain links? :S
KMC/Shimano very similar/same. I like SRAM chains and have found them smoother shifting and longer life than the KMC's.

Wipe gunk off with rag. Use Chain Cleaner. Wash thoroughly. Blow/wipe dry. Relube. Wipe down excess.
I think I've finally found the answer to all my food problems though, half a soreen loaf, compacted into a miniature brick, wrapped in foil then put in a jersey pocket!
I tried soreen once. So damn sticky it's a pain to eat (all over fingers), a pain to chew (sticks to teeth) and a pain to digest (very heavy on stomach). I've had much better 'luck'/joy with lunchbox/breakfast style bars (nutrigrain etc). Granola is good, in fact anything museli related with grains and dried fruit I find fantastic! For 'home made' and ultimate choice - flapjacks with peanut butter/Cliff bars. OM NOMNOMNOM! :D
I've gone through so many saddles, think I have 8 now. Shorts definitely do make a huge difference, expensive ones with decent padding seem the way to go. Commuting every day makes it expensive though. Might start buying a pair a month though.
I'm now using my Castelli Evoluzione for commuting, cost me £45 a pair last summer/autumn. I used Sportful Fiandre during the winter at £65 a pop. Bit expensive but NoRain was superb! Hope to get 3+ seasons out of most pairs, but does mean I need some 'better' for leisure riding, otherwise they'll not last more than a couple of years...

Trust me a list of the saddles you have you don't need/use please mate as I'm on the lookout :)

I'm coming down for this but probably not sticking around after for too long. When are you off?

15:24.

Gels are purely for Time Trials/Racing or as an emergency. Although I do eat a few when abroad for training/big multi days as it's the only way to get enough carbs/calories in comfortably without feeling sick. Would always prefer real food, and much better for the gut.

One way of looking at it, but I cycle pretty much all week, so more like £1,050

I cycle every day mate have not had any problems :)

previous saddles I'd get sores yeah but since I found the saddle that works I've been fine, literally 0 pain.

24miles a day

15:25 here so I'll see you at some point then! I'm still waiting on a club skinsuit so not sure what I'll be wearing yet.

I'm finally admitting defeat with my charge scoop on my Sunday best bike. Looks great, chafes my arse. I'm getting a third Madison flux.

Erm! Could I take this off you if you get rid?!

HAHA OMS that's brilliant! look forward to setting off. You best not catch me. I'm going up on the Friday to ride the course. Reminds me need to put it on my Garmin. Luckily Uncle lives about 10 minutes away so staying at his the Friday night.

janp try dropping your saddle. Sores are caused by friction usually so any rocking always exacerbates issues. I can tell if I've set my saddle a mm too high the next day from irritation. Cheap shorts are fine for commuting if you have your position nailed. If you don't it causes all sorts of difficulties. Long rides need a good set of bibs though!

I have one of those San Marco Ponza's that I bought on a whim for a tenner from PX... still need to rip it off my Hybrid (used once there) and give it a go on the road bike.

If it's was the saddle then wouldn't the sores be in the same place, they seem to shift quite a bit, which makes me think it's more a friction/padding thing.

can also be about hygiene, not saying your un-hygienic like. Get some baby wipes to use before putting bibs on. Wash bibs as soon as possible and only use for 1 day. Also try using Sudocrem, it's got a fair amount of anti-bacteria stuff in it.

Cool, I see you're talking saddles? Getting a bit of friction on my daily ride, currently got a Charge Spoon (had it recommended), any other solid recommendations then that don't cost the earth?
