I really like the red and black! It goes very well, reminds me of the Skoda Fabia haha.

looks like even a torque wrench - worth checking).

The velomati one is great, gives you a bit of an insight into some of the cycling mentality around... If people mention 'the rules' that's the ones they mean. You'll like this one too: (SCR) http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/bikeradars-guide-to-silly-commuting-racing-29908/ (intro and link to the scorecard - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12575770 )

Damn you Roady! Just bought the one from Halfords lol

Thank you for the link, going to check it out later :D

French cyclists take it up the Ventoux.

xD

Don't listen to Gurdas, eater of wheels.

Service your bike regularly and it will last much longer.

Eg I service my bike weekly, but it's not excessive, just 5 minutes before my long ride I wipe the drivetrain and apply a small amount of lubricant (type dependant on conditions), and will dab a little bit of teflon grease on the brake cables if I noticed anything last ride. And if I've ridden in bad conditions I will always clean the drivetrain straight away when I get home.

Once a month I do a proper chain and cassette clean (take the casette off the bike), every 6 months I replace the chain (I do higher mileage than average though I think).

shut up! :D

it depends what kinda service we're talking about? if you're talking about a quick wipe and re-applying lube then I wouldn't really call it a service? just a general thing to do on a bike?

he was talking about taking the bike to LBS for a proper service worth 50-100 quid and that is just too much on a bike that was ridden for 700 miles, no matter the conditions!

Yeah I'm servicing mine fortnightly I think.

How many miles do you do?
Over 10k per annum. This will actually be the first year in a long time I haven't done over 10k, because of my accident and its too late to catch up now I think.

Yer ok, but I still think it constitutes a service.

I agree with you, I've just got a toolkit and stand for £48 which means I can do it all myself now and I've been looking at vids, a lot of stuff is easy!

Check upwards for the link to the stand and toolkit.

I don't know when to change the chain, I need to look up intervals and bike servicing so I know what to do and when to do it. I suppose when it doesn't feel as fast or responsive or noises appear then it's time to service it :)

With cars I have a 2 year plan of what needs doing and when and experience tells me when to change other bits. Ill be the same with this when I get used to it.

Yep you'll certainly start to feel it, you start to miss a gear change every now and again, or it takes a while to change cogs. And you can get yourself a chain wear tool and just check every now and again. A worn chain will cause yet more wear to the cassette/drivetrain.

Not bad! Looks good too, just a shame you couldn't get it sorted while you were off work, still plenty of time with the longer days/bright evenings :)

The stressy part is over now, you can almost complete it at your leisure! Although you probably just want to 'get it done' the amount of hassle you've had.

My only thought, the brake/gear cables look short at the stem, checked they don't go tight when turning right?

They're a little short but they seem okay - I was worried about that too. To be honest the hoses for the brakes are really an arse to work with compared to gear cables and that has limited what I can do with it.

I'm hoping I can get a short test ride on Sat with it and then a nice long one on Sun - fingers crossed.

Skoda?! That's fighting talk :p

Love this :D

So, I ordered a team sky jersey and bib from eBay, more nervously from China.

Well it's arrived and I'm shocked, its better condition and feel than anything else (cycling wise) that I own and its so light! They feel beautiful on, a little tight but itil fit better when I loose some weight :)

I'm gonna get another set ordered depending on how these fair over the next month or two.

£25 delivered ha!

Just be careful when tightening your seat clamp. You also may want to get some carbon assembly compound to help reduce slippage (whatever you do, don't put regular grease on it).

I think that's winter finally done with. What's our final parts death toll? For me it's one chain and, amazingly, only two punctures.

Always thought they were overpriced for what they are, always out of stock so never picked one up...

Quick write up of the TT I did Wednesday night below, as results were only just published. Pretty happy with 6th out of 27 all things considered :)

Great work! That's some of my lunchtime reading sorted! ;)

Guess time will tell and not a huge issue to fix afterwards as with your internal routing you probably have lots of spare outer? Is that difference in working due to the jagwire outers or some other reason?

Think he meant the VRS so not that bad an insult ;)

aliexpress is the normal shopping place for chinese prices/gear. I got some Fakestelli bib tights for £28 and although not great (colour changed after washing and pad wasn't comfortable) they've worked well (with the pad removed) as an extra semi-wind proof layer over my thermals this winter. They look good from a distance which is the main thing - also having outer tights which have some extra colour on helps with visibility!

2 punctures (tube eventually ruined when I caught it changing tyres). 1 bike (semi-killed) when I got knocked off (it's now turbo only). Bar tape from said bike. Helmet cracked from crash. 1 ego. 1 set of tyres (still using them but they won't last the summer). 1 set of brake pads. 1 set of overshoes (worn out through use/abuse). 1 set of bib-tights (split seam, may be repairable).

Just a puncture for me :)

Thank you for this buddy!

Gonna give mine a test on Monday, planning a 60 mile route in prep for a 280 mile ride I have planned in Aug! Time to start training!
