If you are going to take a tow despite the fact I don't know you then take your turn or at least say thank you.

I hate drafting fairies.

If I find myself drafting someone I make a point of overtaking them, at which point they inevitably pull up alongside me barely trying and proceed to hold a conversation with ease as I attempt to maintain the pace I had to put in to overtake them in the first place.

Nearly got run over by my neighbour on Wednesday, it's a poor junction, he was on the phone with his windows covered in morning dew....

I got a reply back from Castelli about my bibs with the pad falling apart. Just told me to contact the retailer. I've had them for 3 days short of a year, so contacted wiggle and will see what they say!

I've been wearing this great Babici jersey this week, nice zip, material and fit. It's not super race tight but still fitted, I'd like it a bit tighter around the arms but it doesn't flap and it's not loose. Maybe I need to do a Grudas and pump some more irons to make them bigger. Cyclists aren't known for their huge upper bodies though!

I'm down 6 stone in 6 months through cycling and eating well. Currently commuting to work 4 days a week, 20 miles a day.

I'd like to lose another 4 stone by August, that will take me to just under 20 stone!

Gratz on the weight loss, keep going I'm sure you'll reach your target :)

I've lost just over 50lbs in 6 months with at least 28 to go

Look him up with Strava Flyby!

I was attempting a power lap this morning and some stranger wheel-sucked me from top of Dark Hill to Roe gate. It was very off-putting and annoying. At the end he didn't say thanks but asked me if the Speedmax AL was any good!

Pretty lucky with my work as well, loads of bike racks and excellent changing facilities with full size lockers and plenty of showers (more powerful than my one at home :o). And a drying room for when it's wet!

Jealous! We have a 4 bike rack and that's it... 3 people cycle in, including the MD but we have no other facilities... Get changed in a toilet cubicle and no showers! Although there is a drying room I could use if required (60% of the staff here work outside) I have enough space around my desk to hang things to dry...

Picking up speed and fitness again but I'm overweight which I feel is having a huge impact climbing hills, my bag that I take to and from work is overloaded too which is slowing me down slightly. I'd like to do my work commute without my bag on one of my days off to actually see the difference.
<snip>
Need to get myself a decent pump though, this is my next necessity as the only one I have is the one attached to my bike! Seen a couple in the local bike store where I got my bike and I get 10% off there so it's worth doing.

Glad to hear you're getting back out there mate (and could see on Strava you've been increasing your mileage!). I wouldn't worry about the weight, just concentrate on taking it steady and don't push yourself too hard - the weight will soon shift itself!

Lots of people recommend the 'Joe Blow', I've got some no-name pump thats serving me well so far... £22 from a LBS and certainly not cheap plastic like some! I have a crank brothers portable one which feels good quality (only used it a couple of times) so I'd happily buy a foot pump of theirs too, if I needed to. :)

I need tyre levers and a spanner of some kind for undoing the track nuts. An Allen key for the brakes probably wouldn't go amiss, if it comes to that. The park ss-15c looks ok.

This is pretty much what I have for my regular bike. Obviously a pump too but that's strapped to the frame.

I'm carrying the following in mine (not SS & probably overkill):
  • inner-tube
  • basic multi-tool
  • park-tool levers
  • hex bolts & Allen keys (small ones) with 'screw driver' handle
  • larger 'L shape' allen keys
  • puncture kit (patches, glue, chalk, crayon)
  • mini-grater for chalk/scoring tube
  • £20 for 'emergencies'
  • flat 'spanner'
  • mini-adjustable spanner
Most metal parts are wrapped in bits of old inner-tube to stop vibration/noise/damage. It all fits in my 0.6L Ortlieb Micro Saddle Bag. I probably need to trim it down and see if I can fit an extra inner tube in now I'm doing longer rides (pretty sure I'll struggle!)...

That's a huge loss, well done! Although further huge loss like that might cause you problems if it continues - your body/muscles may need more time to adjust (unsure how much you've looked into this?). Although I know very little about it except probably scare stories!?

I've dropped below 13 stone (from around 15) without really 'trying'. No real change in diet just more exercise and lots of cycling. That's over the space of 18 months and I've noticed a huge difference, can only imagine the changes you've been/going through! :)

seeing as the weather is getting better, the number of cyclist really does increase! *awaits turbo junkies to come out and pwn me* ;(

Despite averaging over 5.5 hrs of cycling a week, 606 miles so far this year I seem to be maintaining at 15.5 stone!

I need to do some serious miles if I wish to start losing AND eat/drink the way I like. Hmmmm

I suppose in theory if I behaved myself for 5 months to lose weight at a steady pace, I could then start to maintain again eating/drinking what I like :p

A lot of my weight loss last year was due to cycling 250+ miles per week. I find sticking to a low kcal intake quite tough so more exercise seemed the way to go.

there's a hill on my homeward run, if I have a drafting fairy I tend to save a bit and then attack it like a mountain top finish line

drops most of them.

That's over 35 miles a day, 7 days a week!

It wasn't until a few months into the year that I started doing ramping up my miles in that way to be honest. The average for the full year was lower (about 10,200 miles in total iirc).

So far this year I've done more than I did at the start of last year but still a comparatively low amount of miles. I've been trying to concentrate on doing more turbo work and following a Trainer Road training plan so though I'm doing less miles those miles are hopefully helping improve my fitness more.

I don't have a specific frame to advise but if you stick with some of the bigger-name Chinese carbon suppliers you shouldn't have any issues in theory. I should receive my FLYXII frame shortly so I will have a more personal experience that I can share at that point.
