So took the wheel to LBS, he had it off in seconds. Yay!

Downside, going to need a new wheel to support my 11 speed cassette. Boo!

Have my eyes on Shimano RS010 rear wheel for £45, sound alright?

Should be. I run one on my commuter. Cheap and cheerful wheel - i just ride it til i kill it then buy another one at that price. #savetheplanet

Ok enough wheel but you could get a complete set of better wheels for albeit twice the money (ish).

I think you're right. It's got pannier mounts at the rear. It has holes on the front forks too. But I've been reading and the Triban does have issues fitting mudguards

What about the Crud RoadRacer Mk2?

The crud's will fit anything, but I wouldn't recommend them unless you want to lose complete faith in all mudguards. They're ok to fit for a month of wet riding and then just throw them away when you remove them or when they break (not if...).

Whatever 'problems' the Triban has fitting guards they can't be as bad as the tight clearances on the Giant Defy. I've had 2 sets of Giant guards designed for it, Crud RR2's, SKS Chromo's and now these SKS RBL's. The RBL's are the best fit by far, better coverage than the Crud's and similar to all the others. Also the best for noise reduction. I have experienced some rubbing but some of my problems are solved in the mk2's and the rest is fit which you will have with any guards on this frame (Cruds rubbed tyres at bridges more).

What jonny said sounds like the most likely option. Had forgotten about UG. Never actually had to remove one to be fair! Have seen a few hg bodies with the UG threaded part though.
Some of the early Hyperglide bodies could take both. I think you can tell them apart from UG because they have one much wider spline to allow the HG cassette to fit.

I think we have a winner and as luck has it I have two chain whips, it does however appear to be tighter than (insert rude simile of choice)

Might take it to LBS to see if they can get it off for me
If it's any consolation I usually have to use a really long bar on my fixed gears and even then it takes quite a lot of brute!

What kind of deranged maniac specs a bike with pannier mounts and no mudguard mounts?

Almost matches my team kit, not a bad buy.

Especially for the money (£32), I've ordered a medium so can let everyone know what it's like when it arrives, I have my Large DHB Windslam Blade to compare it to along with some other non-DHB winter jerseys (Crane & PX).

Tried on my Sportful R&D Wind Jersey last night, I ordered an XL so the fit is quite forgiving and more like a light jacket on me rather than a race-fit-jersey replacement. I'll be wearing it as both (and as a mid-layer) anyway so wanted some give in it. I think a Large would be very race-tight on my waistline as it's snug at the moment in an XL. Castelli I'm always an L in tops so if anything the sizing is slightly smaller than Castelli (yet seems more forgiving on the shoulders, although that could be the XL). It's now 7 days since I last rode (illness) and according to the scales this morning I've put on ~0.8kg. Two takeaways and the amount of cold medicine currently obviously not helping! ;)

It's amazing how light weight it feels (lighter than a softshell) yet it is incredibly warm (as warm or warmer than a softshell), I was hot within 5-6 mins after replacing a baselayer, shirt and jumper when wearing it indoors last night. Blue colour on Wiggle is very close to actual colour (some sites show it much lighter). Will report back after wearing it outside at some point next week, will try and find a rain shower for it too! So far very impressed... Even more so for my price (£75) over Wiggles £130!

For some reason my Garmin turned off on the way back from work today, rather annoying, not as annoying as the rain though. Can't be bothered cycling to work tomorrow, or on the weekend as it just looks monumentally ****.

Given the forecast the weather really wasn't that bad for me on the way in today. A few light showers and that's about it.

Still, weekend riding is not looking promising

Felt like I was on junior gearing this morning with the bunch ride, we swap off turns at 55-60kmh on a 2% downhill. Cadence was hilarious, ended up burning myself up from trying to spin super fast.

I put a 12-28 on and usually run an 11-26.

So fitted the bottom bracket, cranks, derailleurs and brakes to the frame last night.

One question though, what's this thing for? It came with the front derailleur.

My 810 has been rubbish for crashing and battery life recently, even worse in the wet - even after turning off all back lighting. I've started looking at cases, anyone recommend any?

Forecast to be rubbish here too, just as well I'm still trying to shake this bug off! Will be on the turbo I expect, nothing too onerous so Zwift and some base/sweetspot. Need to sort out my TR sub (anyone got a 'free for a month' link?) and decide on a training plan. I'm thinking just base but may look for one that also helps with power. FTP test first though, which I won't be doing with this stinking cold still hanging on!

Ideal weekend as need to rebuild my PC (new case to solve a USB issue which I hope is USB related), fresh install (8.1 upgrade to 10 & bigger SSD) along with all the associated downloads (Windows, BF4, H1Z1 & Steam ) all on my poor slow ADSL... :)

Potatocam!
srsly resize those before FT bans you! ;)
Looks like some kinda tightener or adjustment tool? No idea...

I just have the official Garmin silicone case on mine. It seems to help keep it a little drier and also means I don't stress as much about dropping it.

It's described as "cable fixing point checking tool" and is used to check the angle of the cable so you can clamp the cable for optimal shifting

That plastic thingy is to do with setting up the front derailleur. I don't know how you use it, but it's to do with getting the cable aligned in the right way.

Edit: beaten.
