Can you see threads? Have you got all the bits of whatever out of it?

I can't see anything other than rubber but as they still have a fair bit of meat left on them it is hard to see to the bottom of the cuts. Yeah I had a look and there was nothing in there.

I'll keep going with them for a bit longer and look into something a little tougher for next time round.

Does anyone have any thoughts on speedplay pedals? I upgraded to SPD SL from regular SPD pedals and didn't really feel confident in them.

how long have you been using them? what kind of rides are you doing? how often do you unclip and reclip etc?

single sides are a lot harder to get used to, and are a pain in the ass if you have to unclip regularly. they come into their own on long runs without any unclipping though

Rode on a heavy old tandem bike whilst visiting a friend's. Was hilarious. It was so heavy and ridiculously hard to go round corners whilst both trying to balance. Starting, stopping and turning were all just hilarious! That's the extent of my weekends cycling....

I use them and I suppose i'm biased but they are very easy to use and havnt had any sort of hotspotting either. I'd recommend them and of course they are dual sided which is nice. Plenty of float if you have dodgy knees or mobility issues too

I recommend Look pedals. Single sided, but a lot easier to clip into than SPD-SL (in my opinion).

Today's ride was pretty windy. I noticed that I feel a lot stronger on the bike compared to last year.

I got knocked off my Defy 2 last year. I'm hopefully reaching being fit enough to ride 7 months on.... the bike frame is bent and wheels knackered but otherwise mostly ok I think. Although being stuck in a freezing garage for 7 months might not have done it any good...

What bike would people recommend? Or should I get a frame and forks, use my old Defy 2 wheels and transfer stuff if my existing tiagra kit and brakes are ok?

Budget of about £800.

I got out on the Propel today. Loved it, it feels like it rolls better and it is comfier than my Triban 5. I didn't eat enough when out and started to really feel it towards the end, earlier in the ride it felt amazing. The good news is that my back didn't feel too bad by the end, only a little bit of pain. Shows the physio is working, but I am still booked into a bike fit at the start of April at Cadence Sport. I have heard good things about bike fits and that place keeps getting recommended.

Can't believe it, I was hoping to have beaten you to it! Added you too to strava. Just looked at your ride, how do you keep your cadence so low! My average was the same as your max. :p

Haha just one day in it :p I don't know, it just feels a natural cadence for me, I've tried lowering my gear and spinning faster but I always seem to hover around mid 70s to low 80s. I am a fat **** and fatties aren't supposed to move quickly so maybe that is a factor. :o
