Not sure what happened this morning. Legs should be fully rested but it was hard work even hitting what I'd normally call a relaxed speed :/ At one point I looked down at the speedo when my legs were hurting and saw it said 15mph :(

I think there may be something going around my office as loads of people are ill. Annoying timing as I was planning on really upping my mileage this week.

I've up my mileage to 50mile plus rides (3 so far) and I get no saddle discomfort until around the 35-40 mile mark.

Is it just a case of manning up and getting used to it?

Well I didn't manage to increase my mileage this week :/ 12 miles short of the previous week's total.

Been having trouble with one of my knees, which caused me to drop the miles on the Saturday. I'm pretty sure it's positioning on the new saddle. I went out on the CX bike yesterday (different saddle), and did a 30 miles flat route, took it very slow but still had quite a bit of pain. And then all of sudden, 22 miles in the pain completely vanishes for the rest of the ride. Very confusing.

Getting a little bored of all the solo rides now, so I might look to join a local group again. I joined a club last year, but they weren't hugely professional or organised. Roll on summer when my fair weather cycling friends re-appear :)

What's your current saddle and what kind of padded shorts/leggings are you using?

Part of it is manning up (or your body adjusting really) but that's definitely not all of it.

I've still got a bad cold. Unusual for me as I tend to recover from them pretty quickly but this one is lingering on leaving me feel lethargic.

Annoying as I really want to head out on my bike :(

Sella Italia Max SLR Gel flow and Funkier bibs

I'm still on the large size so I know that won't be helping.:o

Just seems weird that all is well until around that mileage.

I normally don't stay ill for too long either so I'm hoping this will be one of those times. Now I think back actually, on Saturday I was really struggling to maintain speeds too, though nothing like today. At the time I put it down to lack of food but perhaps it was the onset of whatever this is. Blah.

I'm not familiar with that saddle but it doesn't look like it should be bad. It could be worth checking the Funkier bib short pad to find out what kind of mileage it's rated to - some pads will be better than others over longer distances.

Being a bit heavier won't help but it shouldn't be making things excessively uncomfortable. Have you had a bike fit or used online guides to check your saddle positioning? Also, how is your core strength? If that is lacking then your posture will probably be getting worse as you get tired, leading to weird aches and pains in places you might not expect.

I'm the same! Started out with a cough 9 days ago, and has been about 4 different variations since then. Currently it is a blocked sinus/running nose with a chesty cough.

Having to take a 2nd week off the gym and cycling - fed up with it now :(

I just felt like I couldn't be bothered going anywhere today... :D don't think I went over 25mph! dreadful weather, wet, gray and annoying.. cmon summer!

Hmm, if we get that cycling subforum we could have a thread dedicated to pro cycling...

And one for chatting about the pro races without giving away spoilers, all those spec me threads etc :-P in zefan we trust.

Thanks Zefan! :D

Installed the Charge Spoon. Man it was a ball ache!

What was so bad about it mate? Just after some heads up for when I change one... ;)

and wat wat//

So damn close, stupid woman, she didn't deserve to get away from that one! :o

That *really* sounds like a euphemism. Either that or I spend far too much time around perverted people.

Yup it does, then again I see similar in the post from Von talking about 'adjustable noodles' on his 'pompino'.:D

Next week I'm probably going to drop nearly all of my turbo sessions until the end of March. I'm going to be on a massive cut so assuming the weather is at least acceptable I'll be going for 20-30 miles after work and trying to get 20 or so in before/during work too.

Why a 'massive' cut? Is that a good idea with the already high mileage you do being increased further? I know very little about bulking and cutting... :p

Little tip. Move the cleats as far back as possible. Will probably be the best position for your feet.

Is this a good starting point? I'm pretty sure my cleats are wrong - any real distance/efforts I'm starting to get pains in the outsides of my feet!

Anyone with some good sites to guide through cleat adjustment? I only did them roughly when I got my first cleats and shoes (last July) and I've not adjusted them since.

Did a little hill practice near home yesterday (after a busy day saturday, didn't get time to go out). Was intending on doing repeats but the wind was so cold and brutal I sacked it off after 1. Have been feeling slightly rotten the last few days so fully expecting to get ill - thought being cold would bring it on as I'm bored of it already! I will be using this climb again and again as my hill climbing ability is literally zero (paced myself and still blew up!). Would standing intervals on the turbo help, or look for low cadence work outs?

This mornings commute I tried lower cadence (for the end part) to help get some kinda practice during my working week.

I have charge spoon, no idea whats hard about fitting it? it's exactly the same as all the other saddles I have?! :)

yeah it was a close one! I don't get pedestrians who run through the road, like what's the point.. especially when it has been red for a while.. :o

I'd not replaced a saddle before, and I'm pretty cack handed with stuff like that :) Probably would have been much easier if I had a bike stand.

As for the hill repeats, which segment is the hill you chose? You want a short but sharp hill for building strength, something that usually will take you around 30secs is ideal.
I use this segment: https://www.strava.com/segments/6753427

I'd have gone for Force22 with DuraAce C35 or 303s, but appreciate both wheel sets aren't cheap and neither is a new frame!

I think you can fit 25mm tyres on the 2015 frames?

I did think about going with Sram but I've never really used double tap before, and had heard that it can be a bit of a pain to setup properly. Kind of always had a Di2 itch, so now was the time.

I've got a set of Dura-Ace C24's with 25mm GP4000s on, then the tubs also have 25mm Vitoria tubs on, rear one in the pic is a 22mm tufo tho. Not a huge amount of clearnance left after 25mm tyres but more than enough.

Just can't wait to ride it properly now!

I'm going on holiday at the start of April and I want to minimise excess flab beforehand. That's it really :p

I've also been eating crap food of late so I feel I've put on a few lbs. Haven't checked my weight recently however.
