I'm looking to upgrade the wheels on my 2015 Giant Defy Advanced 1 and so far I'm tempted by a set of Hunt Wheels, either the Mason x Hunt - http://www.huntbikewheels.com/colle...-disc-brake-road-bike-wheelset-tubeless-ready or the standard 4Season - http://www.huntbikewheels.com/colle...vel-disc-road-cx-wheelset-1589g-24deep-24wide

The ordinary 4 Seasons are 24mm Deep, 24mm Wide, 19mm Internal with 28 spokes front and rear and 1589g, the Mason X ones are 27mm Deep, 23mm Wide, 17mm Internal 24 spokes front and rear and 1585g, not a lot in it, which would people recommend between the 2?

If it helps, I'm 80kg and mainly a social rider, and I'll be using 28mm Conti GP4000s ii tyres, also happy to look at any other wheels, it's just that the Hunts seemed to be good value and get good reviews. Thanks.

Mudguards fitted, front is a bit ropey, cut the stays a tiny bit too short, so some creative bending was in order. One problem is that my fork has a bolt under the fork not in the rear of it to attach the mudgard. Do SKS do an adapter? Got it taped up at the moment, but it's not exactly ideal.

Carefully drill a hole through the mudguard. I had to do it on the rear guard on my pompino as for some reason the bolt hole on there is in the bottom of the seat stay bridge.

I guess if you've got a fork that'd be okay (and maybe alu). I've been on carbon forks since forevz so I don't think I'd go for it in that case.

An alternative is to simple get something like meccano and essentially custom-build something.

Carbon! I'll drill the guard. Dunno why I bothered buying these. Water never hurt anyone.

If I ever need to fit another set I'll buy them at Evans and hand over the £20 to fit them :p

It will be worth it when you are ripping through the puddles and keeping almost completely dry.

Gonna hit the road tomorrow after two weeks of inactivity and total gluttony. If I don't make it back, was good chatting here!

My first ride after many weeks of slobbing out was actually not as bad as I was expecting. Slow and not much power to tackle the up hill bits but my legs still worked and my heart and lungs kind of remembered what to do :p

Loving the climb I've just discovered from my new house. From my front door it's a 1750 foot climb in 6 miles. Perfect for a quick hour ride each day.

Urgh, not raced or done a bunch ride since I got back from holiday. 4kg heavier than my race weight and I'm sure I've wasted a bit of muscle too.

Only a 25km race thankfully as I was struggling... 285w average and a NP of 305w, about 10-20% lower than I can do!

Need a few weeks to get tuned up again!

Gave in this morning. Had enough of the wind so decided to run instead. Think that'll be my first day without riding for 2 weeks. Sure my legs will appreciate the change in scenery.

Running..ugh..sicko :p

Was planning to pop out for a quick one this morning but the weather has already turned to pot. Going to take it easy and clean all the mud from yesterday's ride from my bike instead. Monday I'm back in work and I'm planning on taking the long route to work each day so my miles should start to creep back up. Also back on diet and weight lifting duties too. Boo.
