roads got salted last night so nothing this morning bar "black" looking roads, salt melted a little and that's it :o but that's london so hey ho..
 
2 inches of frozen solid snow at mines. Forecast for very low temps and bad forsts/ice, there will be no outdoor cycling this weekend :(

Got in a bit earlier than usual today, 8am rather than my leisurely 9.30am (woo flexi time). Probably would've cleared up a bit more in the sunlight.

Only missed a few days riding in over winter last year (2014/2015 winter) and that was due to breaking my rear derailleur after coming off due to hitting ice at <5 mph :p
 
I guess as I live closer to the centre of Manchester and near some fairly important routes into town the roads are salted/gritted more regularly than other places. Normally it's just slush on the road rather than ice.

Flexi time is awesome though, I agree. At the Uni you have to be around during "core hours" 8-4 but aside from that you're pretty much able to do what you want. Sadly at this time of year we're preparing for online exams and I'm stuck leading on a lot of that so I have to be around a lot more, bleh.

Our core hours are 09.30-15:45 Mon-Thurs and 09:30-15:00 Friday.

It's both awesome and the worst sometimes though, a few short days at the beginning of the week make for a long few days at the end, especially if I want a 15:00 finish on Friday! :o

That is the bit of what is soon to be my commute that concerns me for the winter. Once you get south of the a580 into the country they've barely got streetlights, let alone the will to grit the roads.
 
Well it usually is gritted but it wasn't at all last night or this morning. It was dead slippery driving back from the Cineworld in Leigh at 11pm last night.

Sounds similar to mine, last bit of corner into the road before the office! *splat*

Had considered driving but my lack of anything other than commuting miles this week (no turbo) made the decision for me. Think bike is ok, just scuffed bar tape... Hole in tights is bearable (they're for commuting after all), just glad my jersey/shorts under were not holed.

Elbow is killing me now as done a load of keyboard work so far - so rubbing it constantly! Just glad it's not rash as it would be 10x worse! :/

They've salted the roads around here the last few days - but they did when it rained so all the grit/salt has done is made the roads messy. It's also turned the puddles into large patches of sheet black ice rather than easily spotted frozen patches... Idiots! You salt after rain/snow, not before! :mad::rolleyes:

I typed rubbish above. Our core hours at 10 - 4, not 8 - 4. 8 - 4 are just generally the hours I work :rolleyes:

I took a lot of the brunt of my crash on my elbow / forearm... Unfortunately the massive scab peeled off from the constant rubbing of keyboard/mouse work. It will be a scar with a story to tell probably!
 
When I came off in Dec, it was just over the bars and hurt my thumb worse, or so I thought, but my elbow still hurts as does my big toe. I think I've really damaged my elbow, it clicks every time I put pressure on it.

Salaried 8-5 here, usually here till 5:30 as fairly flexible... Which is great when I do need to leave before 5 to get somewhere! Although other staff hours flex from 5am to 7pm (depending on season) and we have to try and cover... Busy periods that's usually 7am - 6pm. Luckily my boss tends to come in early and I tend to stay late so works well... As I work in an IT department of 2! :eek:

The joys of production and retail/wholesale demands. :rolleyes:

Yeah, in future mine will have happened in a mid winter CX race/Criterium. :cool:

Seriously, get that looked at/checked out! Could be a loose bit of bone and you've fractured it... Or just damaged muscle/tendons which some basic exercises sort out :)

The Ultimate 9.0 Aero is looking sweet - I figure the Mrs is already going to take my balls, why not do it in style?

I can't express how much I want to get out the office and go get the aeroad!
