agreed. I have a chunky regret sitting here that I went and got another race geo bike with 28cc tire clearance. I want beefy 35-40mm tires and endurance geo.. but oh well, old GuRders - (@Roady) took over and here I am. The bike I got is still awesome to ride but the roads around here don't do it justice.

If you take it to somewhere like Mallorca though it will be lovely!

I can easily enough fit 32c tyres on the TCR and thats likely what I will do when these are done. Well, unless I can save £3 by going 28c again :p
 
so it's probably smooth rather than slow. GCN did a video and the difference on a controlled circuit with flat smooth road between 26/30/35 was literally a handful of seconds in a 10k ride if I remember right.
I ride in the peaks. Flat and smooth aren't a thing, unfortunately :-)
Getting them rolling and getting up 10% hills just seems like more effort than it should be, but it's only feb.

Interesting that you can fit those tyres on a TCR - what year? I have a rim brake version and run 25's currently.
 
Back on my bike after a far too long hiatus. I am 20kg heavier than pre-covid, when i was quite happy spinning around town on my fixed for road bike. i am suffering, but really loving the serotonin boost after my commute each way.
Hopefully it wont be too long before I can consider a 100 mile jaunt down to Portsmouth a reasonable thing to do in a day again.
 
Need to pick me up a cheap track pump from market place, i used to borrow my mates, i have a small pump which i tend to use. But its not the best, i deffo not got enough air in the tubes. I used to ride with about 60psi i think. Its probably about 30-35 psi atm

Im on my 3rd day riding in to work this week,

One thing i am kind of thankful for about 3-4 weeks ago when i had car issues was that i got out on my bike and have got a bit of a routine going now with riding to/from work. Hopefully i keep it up. I also need to switch back to dry lube as i ran out of dry lube and was using wet lube, it makes the chain so tacky.

Im going to try and grab a new chain, and get a decent brush or a tool so i can remove my casette and give it a proper clean/going over

I was using Vittoria Corsa N.EXT 28mms, so I think they are a step up the quality ladder from the every-day Rubinos. I've put about 500 miles on them, and they had held up well, but the total failure of the back tyre when I hit a small pothole was concerning. Perhaps that same hole would also cause Gp5000s problems, but they are far better tyres for not substantially that much more money, so I will have more confidence in them!

Yeah I've had holes in GP5000's before, maybe even more than on the Vittorias but when I've ridden them 3x as much without the similar issues of fit, pressure & they feel and ride a lot better then it's a no brainer, certainly now.

But back when they where £90 vs £32 it was a hard sell for a winter tyre, but now the GP5000 are closer to half previous value, easier to choose to ride them.

Yeah the Rubinos not the top end, but for a version 4 or whatever I expected more. They don't look to have worn that much so figure I'll still be riding them next winter too... Drat! :D

Haha, you where blessed before with London roads! Welcome to the 'real' rest of the UK road conditions! ;)
