Road Cycling

I admire the optimism Roady but at the moment I'm just focussing on trying to squeeze into the top 150 let alone the top 10! I've got a bit more in me for sure, but I'm talking seconds not minutes! :D
Aim high and you'll reach the stars! Or maybe Sparkhill ;)

I may end up at the Halesowen track at some point, there's a couple of guys from work and some contractors doing a big project for us and they're all keen runners/cyclists so it's been talked about...!

Yep - there is a difference between touching 350w for a second and maintaining it for 5+ minutes :p
I've got confidence in his abilities! Was hopefully explaining how that a lot of 'segment hunting' is just luck and conditions :D

Holy **** what a mess. :(
Yup, poor guy doesn't have much luck with wheels! That's probably the 2nd or 3rd I've seen him wreck in ~10 months. Then again he used to be one of the day to day NFTO guys helping run the pro team so I imagine had lots of kit when the team folded! Lucky git (there where sponsored by Enve, Felt, Castelli & Oakley amongst others)! :o

Have a good weekend all, fairly easy club ride planned for me tomorrow, will be good to have a catchup with the guys I've not seen since the 100 a few weeks back. Fingers crossed the weather holds! I've got grand plans on cycling to my parents too as we're overdue a visit... Need to get authorization off the support vehicle as she grumbled about it last night. Hope she's not getting too hormonal! :D :o

You can private hire it for near peanuts. It's a great track and I'm lucky having it on my doorstep. Track work has helped me massively be stronger out on the road.

I'm there so often now I'm thinking of having my post delivered there :p

My legs are feeling it today - 150 miles up this week @ 20.7mph avg and 7,815ft climbing (52ft a mile).

I've got one more ride tomorrow - relaxed pace with a new rider, phew :)

I've had shifting issues for a while on my S3, which I presumed was just due to a bent derailleur cage after a race tangle. Finally got round to replacing the Derailleur and hanger today, but its not fixed the issue. Instead I can't actually get the mech to index, as when the QR skewer is tightened the whole mech and hanger moves across as the QR tightens. Looking closer it's as if the whole seat stay warps/bends ever so slightly with the QR. Tried resetting the hanger but no luck. Any suggestions bar sending the frame to the dealer?

Have you tried adjusting the setup mode on the di2 to get it working?

If it is still too bent then lining the hanger up whilst it's clamped shut is the best way I guess. Some bikes do pull the hanger in a hell of a lot but it usually lines them up rather than knocks them out.

Just watched the video, don't have audio so i'm not sure which is open or closed but if i'm right and you start with it open. Seems to improve the chainline to me but it's hard to tell from a video. The system should be designed to work with the pressure of the quick release, not without it. But for something like this, I'd ask on reddit.com/r/bikewrench, much wider pool of knowledge.

New chain and cassette day! Long overdue to be honest, probably at least 5000 km on the chain and 10000 km on the cassette! Still....if you don't have any problems or wear then who cares! Chain had only stretched by 5 mm tops.

Went out for an early ride with BennyC again today, he wanted to check out Dragon Hill and Chain Hill.

Dragon Hill is tough but I'm surprised at how manageable it is. Obviously my pace is way off Ben's, but I didn't find myself suffering too much in terms of being in the red and gasping for air. It could be extremely demoralising if I let it, watching Ben go up the climbs as if they're nothing, he rarely looks troubled. A section of 19% hurts but it's lovely once you get to the top, some great views

Chain Hill after that was tough, missed my PB by 10 seconds as my legs were a bit shot by the second part of the climb but given the amount of miles before we hit it, I'm still pleased. Ben had a cracking go at it, yet to see his time but reckon it could be sub-8 minutes, which is awesome.

Streatley was closed so had to take a massive diversion that seemed to go on forever :( made the end of the ride a bit tedious but overall was a fantastic ride. Always great riding with Ben as it's social but always has challenging segments in it as well

How tight is the QR?

Bike got stolen today, but I'm insured from wiggle, also called crimestopers, it's the first time having a bike stolen and being insured. How exactly does it work, of the police can't do anything , would the insurance help me out with a new bike or towards it? Can't seem to find straight forward info online

Generally I think you.end up with a voucher for someone like wheelies to the value of your payout.

I still need to get out over that way and give Dragon Hill a go on the road bike. I did it on my MTB after mate's decided they didn't fancy the off-road route up (it looked ridiculously steep tbf after coming down it).

get a crime reference number - contact your insurers and go from there. Check your policy details etc.

All depends on how it was stolen etc - if it was unlock, no chance your getting anything.

It was locked but I think most likely to the bike seat and was only gone 15 mins, so seat only had to be taken off. There is CCTV in front of the shop.kt was locked by. So.should be okay I think
