Road Cycling

The swearing filter adds so much mystery! A pre cycle what? So many possibilities!

Haha I need a wee Barry White before riding the bike, makes you light no?

Trying to decide on a new bike.

Budget doesn't allow the Ultegra version with the black/white colour or the better framed Ultegra with the oranage/red fade.

OR

I buy the my bosses Felt F1, Dura ace C35 wheels, dura ace 7900 with pro vibe finishing kit.

Rapha reflective rucksack.

Can't you tell by the pink? ;)
Sheesh. Rapha without a logo = 4X as expensive?! How many kidneys?

Do Proviz do one, I know they have those fantastic reflective jackets. Don't they do refelective shoes as well, or was that someone else?

What happened to your Felt?

Much weight compromise with buying the bosses frame? DA 7900 (10 speed?) & good wheels trumps Ultegra (11 speed).

I did laugh about the Barry White comment, but then realised I do the same for probably 75% of my rides! :o

Got the Orbea up for sale. Want to move it on whilst it's still mint, struggled to get £1000, £850 and currently on FB pages at £800. Need to square up a credit card and move stuff around and then start paying for a new bike for next year. Riding the Cannondale in full on winter spec all the time just now.

The Felt F1 is a really light frame (1k carbon, carbon BB etc) and a better package overall with the wheels and a FSA SLK light chainset. Need to see what I'm paying though.

I actually prefer the hood shape of the newer Shimano hoods though!

I'm definitely down with the pink now - new pink road shoes have got me turned, I'm now sat at my desk in a pink shirt and tie. :D

Snagged myself some new Bontrager Paradigm wheels, spotted on Ebay - stuck cheeky £235 offer in and it got accepted - brand spanking new, usually £450 ish the set - the seller seems to be a bike shop owner, they've even got brand new Bontrager R3 28mm TLR tyres on, which are actually really highly rated.

Probably will move on my Fulcrum Racing 5 LG's now which is a shame as they've been awesome - only bought them in May 17 too. Email in trust if anyone wants some cheap but mint Racing 5 clinchers.

They're orange. :P

Ahhh yeah Orbea, got my wires crossed as I recall you thinking about Felt's the same time before you got it?

I've always liked the AR1, there's any amount of them, AR FRD's and Swift Ultravox's around here. NFTO rode them and all the kit got sold off locally when the team folded. Missed out on getting an FRD frame for £350 as couldn't make my mind up! :(

Can't you tell by the pink? ;)
If there is pink you have me even more sold. #TeamPink
I'm definitely down with the pink now
#girls

To be fair the local race club I'm going to ride with more next year has Pink/Grey/Black kit so I'll soon be a pink wearer too! ;)

They're orange. :p
Ssssh, don't let Benny hear you saying that! ;)

I've committed to racing next season - fixed wheel Friday night track league, seniors (40+). I'm already wondering wtf I was thinking - some of the guys I'm going to be up against are absolutely monstrously quick around the track. *GULP* :/

Going to race with them too?

Not sure, probably not a primary aim but will probably ride local TT's & Sportives wearing team colours (as I do already for NFTO).

I'll still ride under NFTO as I've got so much kit I can't think about the logistics & cost of changing it (team colour helmet, 3 winter jerseys/jackets, several shorts & tights, 9 jerseys, 2 gilets & 10+ caps! 90% of it Castelli!) :o

You could start up the team again with that lot!

arrghhhh! My front hydraulic brake is driving me nuts!

The pads and discs were changed both ends, and new fluid/bled etc. The front brake has now decided it's had enough and does virtually nothing, apart from make an absolute racket. I can stand over the bike, with quite a lot of pressure on the lever, and easily push the bike back and forth. It's really squeaky and not strong at all. It's done about 50 miles since the service too.

It's been doing this for the last two seasons. The back is absolutely fine, and I clean the bike in the same way (the bike hasn't been cleaned since the service, so it's not me contaminating it at all)

Could it be the caliper itself? Leaking fluid? That's the only thing that hasn't been changed, so I can't think what else it could be.

Does the lever itself still feel fine? i.e. you can feel the contact point between pad/rotor easily and then you get a good solid lever feel after that point when squeezing more firmly (and the lever doesn't go as far as the bars?)

I think your theory about the caliper is the most likely cause. Try removing the pads and check the back of them. Any moisture at all? If so, does it feel oily?

I don't regret moving away from disc brakes - i just found them too high maintenance - constantly something not right about them. Noisy or squeeky or sticky or grabby or wooden. Mine glazed in no time at all - two big stops from 45mph and the pads were glazed and basically toast.

Hardly ever felt right, although that was TRP mechs, maybe hydro better.
