Has anybody used the Respro pollution masks before?
I'm getting concerned about the amount of coughing I do over winter. I never used to be asthmatic but commuting by bike for 6 years in Central London seems to taking its toll on my respiratory system.
Those masks just look like they'll make it really hard to actually breath if you put in any reasonable effort.

Will be a loss if they do, one of the bigger independent chains. How many stores do they have?
Last ones I ordered where Lawbreakers in May from this seller (who's no longer on ebay, doh!)
Get yourself checked out, if you're thinking that then it must be from some symptoms you're starting to see/feel?
The cold air gets me, I tend to have a sniffle from October until May but not a cough. The sleet last week (Weds/Thurs lunchtime?) really caught me with headwind and now the tip of my nose is all chapped. With the tail end of the lurgy it makes blowing my nose extremely painful! Thankfully it's not running like it was... Quite glad the illness which has been wiping people out here for a week or so was only 3-4 days for me (with 2 days 'build up')! I literally hid inside all weekend apart from retrieving more firewood. It was utterly miserable here but still got grief for missing the club/social ride!
Last week was a low mileage week, only 67. Only ride I did outside of commuting was CVR week 3 (Zwift), at least now I'm totally recovered from that and 75% from the illness my legs should be quite fresh to ride CVR again tomorrow... Flat route this time so may need to dust off my sprint!

CVR World cup week 4 (Winter 2018 1). They're great races as with real prizes on offer at the end of season there's a ton of teams, tactics and cut-throat racing. But unless you registered there's not much point entering at this stage unless you plan on racing the rest of it (think the 5 best race results are used from the 8 weeks). You could obviously race for next seasons league/rank or for teammates (gimmie your wheel in C!
). Yeah but if it's getting worse might be worth getting a second opinion? Or just order a jiffy bag from Sky and self administer?... Assuming you have a TUE?I've already been diagnosed with exercise-induced asthma and take salbutamol!

Can anyone just enter and race for the hell of it? I don't mean signing up to anything, just enter the race in Zwift and race?
As there are no group categories, I assume it's one huge free for all?

Group categories are slightly different, but race in B and help any RaceWBR riders out! We've got 1st and 2nd so far in B!
Anyone can race, the fact it requires registration and there's so much teamwork going on it'll be a fantastic place to see some of the tactics in play. If you can jump in a group try and stick with them to really get some experience, especially as this is the 4th week after 3 weeks of hilly races...
I'm back in C but my account is messed up so my placings are screwed (raced D & C yet my account has been 'fixed' since starting and is now broken showing me as racing in B. I'm in 80th place lol)

Received some good and bad news in email...
Good: I don't have to do Hardknott Pass at 98 miles into a hilly ride.
Bad: I didn't get a place in the ballot for the Fred Whitton.

That's what brakes are for. I cannot stand people jumping on my wheel unless I know them. Far too many clueless idiots about.
In the past, If I wasn't able to drop them, and not in a huge rush to get anywhere then I'd just slow down until they finally pass.
commuting, I just take comfort in the fact that they're drafting a chubby lad with panniers.
the best I've ever seen was riding from Hook of Holland to Amsterdam, 100k of wind on the nose with luggage. Our group was passed by a local on an old cannondale MTB with slicks, dressed like a fisherman, who was towing an FKW on a Cervelo S3 along behind him.

I really fancy trying Hardknott, just as so many people ride it and list it as 'steepest road in the UK'. It really isn't, going up to 33% according to Tejvan, although it's possibly the hardest due to the length, gradients and where it is.
Think @FrenchTart has ridden it? @Shamrock has, he seems to just floats up hill anyway!
Bit of a refund joke isn't it, I think the RideLondon is the same as I remember a friend getting excited for his money being returned so he could spend it on some new wheels later in the year!

I think I'll try and get up there at some point this year anyway.
As for RideLondon, I thought they don't take the money until you confirm the place? If I remember correctly if you get a place you get a window to make payment. Haven't heard back about that yet. If I do it I'd want to be in one of the first waves to avoid spending 1 hour+ waiting behind one of the inevitable crashes.

I've ridden it too. Back in 2010, long before the days of Strava (and even garmin), I did 8:28. It was probably still the hardest day on a bike. Mostly because I was still new to cycling and had no idea about nutrition and stuff like that.
I walked up most of Hardknott, and Wrynose too. It's difficult to judge because I was already dying by the time I got there but I think Hardknott is probably the hardest climb i've done in the UK. Even the Bealach Na Ba isn't so bad.

Gutted I had to leave that one off my Mendips madness and just descend it, after tackling Old Bristol Road https://veloviewer.com/segments/659594 and Ebbor Gorge https://veloviewer.com/segments/644948, so that I had time to climb Cheddar Gorge https://veloviewer.com/segments/6665302 before arriving back at Longleat ~45mins later than planned... On my fatbike in 29er mode.
Can't wait to have another go at that ride this year, hopefully on the road bike and have time to climb 725 feet over just 1.2 miles up Draycott Steep!
