Speak for yourself :p

It'd just be nice to replace a Garmin battery without the o-ring coming loose and never being able to get it waterproof after the first time!

In convinient timing. My cheap Magenestrap has started being pretty irratic for readings. Whenever i put the strap on it just reads around 180bpm. It eventually settles down to where i'd expect it to be, but then occasionally will just fly up to 200bpm in the middle of a descent! Given my Garmin did similar i'm starting to wonder if it's something else, but i've tried both straps on multiple devices and both report the same thing across multiple devices which is bizarre. Strange for 2 different products/brands to fail the same.

that tape I liked but it was a bit too thin for my liking, gone for basic thick sram tape for now in black as it's thicker and comfier. I am surprised by sigmasport too, over-all they're quite good but this was a bit dissapointing.

I just had to look it up.. you're not wrong, it was 2015 May! insane how time flies.
Wow, I thought I'd started in here 2013/14 but I guess fairly lightly and wouldn't have been capable of a ride like that until at least 2015/16 so it passed me by! Some quality names on there with you, we've 'lost' some superstars from here that's for sure!

The SRAM 'supersuede' tape is ok, I ended up with some. Quite 'corky' but good feel and stretches well so tapes well. Not sure how well it's going to last as although feels similar, doesn't feel as thick or tough as the Specialized Roubaix Pro stuff I used a few times before it. It'll come off soon when I get around to swapping my Di2 around and putting narrower bars on. Think I'm back to Supercaz Supersticky Cush then, have that on my Tarmac and quite like it. Ended up with some spare wraps as the new bike came with plain black so I bought some Grey and didn't put it on... Quite different to the corky ones. Not sure which I like more. I've got Lizardskins DSP on my indoor and like that too, some super thick options of that if want something thicker. Guess I'm not fussy when it comes to tape! One of the few things...

I've got the spatz roadman I think. I don't really go out in weather to justify them though so I was just after some windproof and perhaps warmish toe chappies. I had some in the past but they got ruined really quickly because they were really tight/inelastic and getting them over the jagged edges of the spd-sl cleats seemed to damage them.
Yeah sounds like the Roadman! They're fantastic, but really need temperatures like they are now... Much over 6-7 degrees I found them far too warm! Get very sweaty! Although I'd still wearing them on a wet ride at those temps, as would be getting wet feet anyway! Wouldn't really wear them in temps above unless there's bitter windchill, I've done it a few times and regretted it - but I also have several of their other thinner options so should know better. I always size an overshoe up so they last a bit longer. EU42 shoes, so I'm always a 'M' and using L or M/L overshoes.

This seems common to me. My current overshoes are split from the two points the clear would catch them as I pull them on.
That's why I love the 'Open Sole' type that Sealskinz do, although I don't really open the velcro buttoms, but they're thicker and tougher, the design more square, so don't snag and wear through like the elastic types do.

I only tend to bin an overshoe when the toe hole which wears has got so big it won't stay on the front of my shoe! Or the zip breaks/seizes. Still get through a couple of pairs a year. Cost of overshoes is crazy the last couple of seasons, I watch for them in sales - have even been known to buy them on Ebay as know what bits to look for to determine wear...

Ah, that doesn't work as my shoes are 99% mesh at the front
Haha yeah bit of a problem with them... They look to be made as breathable as possible for hot weather!

Defo some toe warmers for the front, Neoprene should give you windproofing and enough warmth. Then tape over any vents on the sole to stop water ingress from the bottom, then an overshoe over the top when you need the rain protection. With a Neoprene toe warmer and where you're riding, you could probably get away with a light & thin overshoe just to keep the rain off and not need one for warmth. Like I grabbed some of these in a deal (£3.99), they're terribly thin for something labelled 'thermal' but would be good for warmer weather to keep a few showers off.

yeah, a few used to frequent these forums.. not seen them for years.

that sram tape looks quite good, I got this on now - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sram-Road-...6967&sprefix=sram+bar+tap,aps,119&sr=8-6&th=1

and it's been quite good, not a fan of how wet and soggy it gets but oh well, cheap for what it is, stretches well and in general I like the comfort of cork tape.

I'd like a more exciting to look at colour but for now, black will do.. keep meaning to try the supercaz tapes. Got a £200 sigma gift card for xmas so maybe I'll spend some on that.. :D

Yeah, i mainly went with them for flexibility. Due to the issue in my left foot i need loads of room around the toe box and so these are super flexible and i can wiggle toes etc or use toe spacers without any restriction. I think some decent thick socks are probably all i need. Even if i go out in 0-5c weather, it's either only for an hour and so not as important or anything longer and the sun usually comes out :p

that's all I use.

winter socks and summer shoes with loads of vents. Feet still feel a bit cold but not enough to bother me.

Yeah a bunch of quality names there! I saw Liam is mostly just running now but did some cycling last summer. @Shamrock can see he's riding indoors on SYSTM though! Can't tag many of the others I knew the forum names of so think that means they didn't make it through the upgrade... Chris Williams was Asprilla I think? Nick Rose I can't recall his forum name. I'm sure I should! James is @sHo0sH and still riding a bit.

For what it's worth, I like the supercaz tapes. Very grippy.
Yeah I like them too, certainly on the 'summer' bike. Seem to grip better than expected looking at the finish of the tape. Check the 'coffee brown' colour here @grudas. I think it wears fairly quickly so not sure how it'll cope in lots of UK 'weather'

Some fade ones as well, good price for Supercaz £19.50 - can sometimes see it on the rainforest or ebay sellers for £12-14 and in different colours, I guess from previous years or maybe other countries different colours are available...

That's a good reason for a flexy toe box. I'm a bit miffed I can't get the sizing right on Bont Riot's have tried a EU42 and they're tight, a wide EU42 and too wide, a EU43 and too loose. Grr! They're meant to be one of the best for Wide fit - so think I'm marginal wide, rather than really wide, when it comes to Bonts.

haha yeah! remember some of those names.

thanks! do like that colour, may have to buy it to see if it's comfier than my first attempt from BBB..

@Roady i shamefully haven't fixed a picture I picked up riding to Paris in September 23

Two kids have massively put a stop to my riding but I'm keen to get back on the bike this year and hope that by summer I'll at least get a day a month to go out for a nice weekend ride.

Do it. I’ve been back at it since October and having a lot of fun.

I'm loving it out here in Calpe, amazing weather for early January!

(Actually, he was already in there and I got rather excited like a littler schoolboy when I went in and saw him  )

We waited until his manager/dad/older friend was busy on a call and dropped in and asked for a pic. Unfortunately, this opened the door for others who then asked him. He was very nice about it though.

I want to both like and hate this post. Can you split it up into two posts so I can dislike the part where you are cycling in the lovely warm weather but like the part where you have a photo with VDP.

If it helps it's only around 16c around here at the moment

Great pic(s) so congrats for catching him! Very jealous! :D

Also amazing pics & views of the landscape on your Strava mate, thanks for sharing. Even more jealous!

Nice!

-4 here this morning, but felt more like -1 or -2 windchill so really a hard frost rather than a big freeze. Same as yesterday which was forecast -6 and didn't quite get it so good to miss it again...

Friend from near Crewe (TTT on Zwift with) said they had snow overnight and then another 2-3 inches this morning. He's a roofer/labourer so had his work cancelled!

EDIT @AndyCr15 Thought you were in Jalon? Or was Calpe just the ride for the day?
Looks like he is, just rode out there.

Ah yeah, just looking through Strava now. Looks like he also hit 53.Eleven. Some absolute bike porn in that place!

@AndyCr15 least you got to see Moraira. My parents have found some local cat sitters so sadly not sure there'll be another opportunity

Just start planting the seed of doubt for me. Make up some story about Spanish cat sitters for me

I thought Girona had lots of Pros cycling about, but this is something else. Today on Rates alone, I've seen -

Visma
Lotto
Astana
Tudor
Intermarche (I thought, but looking at their 2025 kit, maybe not)
Cofidis
Picnic PostNL
Canyon women

As well as lots of individuals (or maybe in a 3 or 4) in team kit and a couple of teams I can't identify.

Evidently, I just can't stay away from Ali Express!!

Anoutway AT1 Pro mini electronic tyre pump. Should be good for 3 inflations of my tyre/pressure and looks small enough to keep in a saddle bag.

Also bought a few other boring bits like presta valve cores, an emergency TPU innertube and tubeless repair kit. All in for £50 lol.

yea I’ve got a similar one from Aliexpress, no psi screen but for emergencies it’s fine.

Also run “ridenow” pink tpu tubes and had no issues.

Aliexpress is full of decent stuff for bikes, you just gotta digg through it.

Rockbros, westbiking, ridenow etc for example are all good trustyworthy brands.

Let me know on the pump, although at that price it doesn't seem cheap enough vs the Cyclops one you get over here with a bit more warranty etc.

Same as @grudas No issue with the Ridenow tpu tubes, i keep one as a spare in case Tubeless fails.

Have ordered this. Just to be completely at odds with most in this thread :D

I was curious about the Wheeltop electronic groupset, but again doesn't seem enough of a saving over Sram Eagle to be worth the risk
