Am not the sort of person who road rages however I was approaching a cross junction turning right. This chav in his corsa also turning right from the other direction thought it would be wise to turn infront of me, rather than behind me. I said "behind", and he then proceeds to give me the finger, of which I just gave him a few hand gestures.

Sorry just a rank.

Do you road rage at all?

Yeah he was obviously an awful driver with no understanding of how the road works. Makes you wonder how some people pass their tests.

I often find myself getting angry, not for no reason might I add. 17 year olds may have the highest insurance premiums but my gosh in my case it is always older drivers at fault, I've lost count of the amount of times I've had to take evasive measures to avoid an accident.

It's generally lane discipline that does my nut in, I stick perfectly within my lane on roundabouts, not difficult you might think but anyone over 50 and mostly white van men/mid 30s business men in their beemas don't understand the concept.

I've never actually got out and decked anyone yet although I came close once, some **** came from the inside lane of a big 3/4 lane roundabout as I was turning in at the next left, he decided he wanted to too and completely cut me up, the worst thing is we made eye contact, he seen me but done it anyway, no indicators, just expecting me to stop and with the attitude "if you go into me it's your fault". I had to slam on the anchors and then there was a red light just after we turned off the roundabout. Wound my window down and we had a heated exchange and I was about to get out but he blew off. IMO there's absolutely no excuse for such appalling driving and I have no tolerance for such drivers. Usually I will make sure they know what they did, lean on the horn for about 10 seconds, flash them or if I get the opportunity, stop next to them and wind down the ole window for a few words. If it's a coffin dodger elderly person, I tend to go easy but it still ****s me off they're on the roads.

I'm confused with this, every junction I come to that works in this way, I always turn 'infront' as does everybody else. I know you're not "supposed to", but everyone seems to do it regardless because it keeps the flow of traffic.

Like this I mean:

Luckily I don't get too stressed about it. I just look at them and curse inside.

As for the roundabouts, I do stay in my lane all the time. However, I always check mirrors, and quickly over my shoulder to ensure no one is close before I change direction.

He actually did nothing wrong. Its up to the driver to decide whether to pass nearside to nearside or offside to offside. In many cases, its better to pass nearside to nearside, as although vision is impeded, you don't end up being blocked by a cue of traffic waiting to turn the other way.

I can get sressed out most times. But generally I just wave and smile at the idiots. Confusion ensues but everyone is safe and not as angry anymore.

Aye, its the road layout and the size of the cross roads that would decide how you should negotiate it.

People get wound up on the roads too easily, and I often think one time the person who regularly gets out of his car or mouths off will get an ass whooping. There is somebody more ruthless.

i tend to take that method of dealing with road rage, although for some reason it just tends to wind people up even more!

So someone makes a thread about disliking road rage and you post about how you instigate it on a regular basis? :p

Nah thats ******** mate he told his story and said how he got angry and came close to road rage, then asked if anyone else has had any incidents.

As said, when someone is putting my life in danger I'm not going to be a puss and do nothing, badly dangerous driving seriously ***** me off and as said, I usually just beep them and try and have a few words but if they want to get shirty then I can raise them.

i used to get mad at folks driving like idiots. now i just laugh.... and anybody raging at me gets the same treatment, winds them up all the more.

Have actually been chased thru town after laughing at some guy who was in the left turn lane at a roundabout who tried to continue on round and turn right which would have resulted in me getting cut up in the process. I kept on going he had to stop and looked like a prat so i laughed. Chased me for a fair distance flashing lights and all sorts... :D

Was cut up on a roundabout tonight by a guy in an old Honda Civic. I was going to the last exit of the roundabout, a full circle and as I went round in the second lane, this old white 205 pulls on and the said Civic behind it. The pug was going slow, so as I was passing it (on the inside lane of the large roundabout), the guy in the Civic just pulls out, almost taking the front end of my car off. No indication, no mirror checking, I was too far forward to be in his blind spot.

Pressed the horn as you do before he was going to hit me and the guy shift's his car back into lane, as if I'd come out of nowhere and swears at me. As we pull on to the dual carriageway, Im in the outside lane overtaking the Pug and another car, I pull in expecting him to just drive past, but instead he cuts in right behind me and continues to stick to my bumper for about half a mile.

He dropped back after this and probably came to his sense's. I was glad he got caught by the lights and I didn't as he seemed like he would have tried it on again. :(

The first junction I come to out my flat is a cross, I have yet to encounter anyone who passes behind another car when they are both turning right.

Dude, you shouldn't do that. Sometimes people make mistakes, we are all human after all. Obviously some people are a law unto themselves on the road, but you have to realize that you can't change that.

It's not a good idea to agressively beep your horn, you'll wind up the other driver, as well as worrying other drivers around you. A light tap on the horn is better, as it's all that is needed. Anything longer than 2 or 3 seconds, and you look like an idiot to all the other drivers around you.

Remember, you may be a driver, but you are NOT the road police.

If you have the mentality that YOU are the only person on the road that you can trust not to crash into you, and that every other driver will do whatever they can to make your drive a misery, then it's easier to keep calm.

Driving around whilst enraged by someone elses driving is bad for your awareness and concentration. Chill out. Maybe you should pull over and take a breather.

One day you might be leaning on the horn at a bad driver, and him and 4 of his mates might take offense!

I'm not saying I never get angry when I drive, because sometimes I do, however all I tend to do is rant about it to my passengers! :p

I guess we all have our own ways of dealing with it.

Newsflash mate.

Leaning on the horn, flashing and gesticulating at other road users is bad, dangerous driving. How can you not see that "having a few words" with someone is not going to diffuse the situation any, and in fact, could probably make it worse?

As I said, you're not the road police. Or entirely innocent of bad, dangerous driving. No one is. (entirely innocent of bad, dangerous driving that is, some people ARE the police.)

Exactly because otherwise if you've got a couple of people in either direction wanting to turn right you've got stale mate with the first car on each side of the road not being able to turn because they are facing the second or third car in the queue on the opposite side of the road.

TBH unless someones about to plow into me or weaving into my lane inches from my bumper I won't even so much as beep. All these hand gestures and swearing make you look like an over testosteroned ape imo. "I am the alpha road user. UGH UGH"
