Road Rage

If someone on the road does something I dont like, I chase them down and smash their car up with my keyboard.

^ Me too.

I've glued two keyboards onto my marigolds for such incidents, I use em like fighting sticks.

Violent-J - welcome to driving in Birmingham. Best advice I can give is to chill TF out, anticipate people not paying attention and avoid them.

Getting verbal with the wrong person in Bham is not a good idea unless you want a knife stuck in your neck.

theres a difference between making a mistake and being a tit though

overtaking on a single carriageway sliproad, thats being a tit, and if my grandma wasnt in the car at the time ive done more than beeping the horn (but then again if my grandma wasnt in the car i would have put me toe down anyway)

I don't really. But I do get fed up with people doing REALLY stupid things on the road and then proceed to want to blame me for it. Or generally act first and think later i.e. giving priority to people coming up hill, merging into single lanes and generally lane hogging - the list could go on... I don't go mad at them, I'm not that sort of person, I just let it slide - I do hate the way that they feel they are in the right though, and then behave like muppets to prove a point.

Life's too short to be stressed out. :)

70% of the time my windows are all the way down and i have a tendancy of creaming abuse out them and not realising, but just to make sure they can see and hear me throwing there way after they have just cut me up or nearly gona into me. :D

my roadrage can turn quite dangerous, last saturday i was coming up from our summer party in bristol and its mainly windy country lanes. there was a cornor which had the no overtaking markings and what do i see , low and behold a clio filled with 5 cap wearing youths with smoke pouring out the window. at first i thought fair enough i wont get involved but once he saw a car coming round the bend he just pulled straight back into the lane no more then a meter in front of me almost causing me to swerve into the ditch , was getting pretty annoyed as this happend a few times to the point i just decided to floor it past him even though there was a lorry about 200m ahead in the other lane, thought id lost him so slowed down and once again they reappear trying to overtake me so i just floored it untill i got upto 110 , at which point he got the message .... although those speeds on country lanes scared the living crap outa me :(

still its funny how other people can affect your driving so much!

Too many of you need to chill out or you'll get yourselves into real trouble one day. So what if someone pulls out in front you or demonstrates bad driving? By getting wound up, sounding the horn, shouting obscenities etc all you're doing is taking your concentration off the road and putting everyone else in danger, not to mention the chance that the person at the other end of it may be a nutter.

I dont really undertsand why getting behond a wheel makes people so intolerant.

Just take avoiding action, count to 10 and get on with your journey.

This reminds me of my italian friend, he hired a car in the uk and was following a car that was going a bit slow so, so as is perfectly natural in itally, he started beeping so he could get passed, only to find the car infront stoped and some skin head got out and threatened to kill him. funny on hindsight.

Ive never used my horn, most of the time i see it as counterproductive as its hardly likly to make the person your beeping drive safly, more likley slam on so you both crash or you just make them mad.

I used to get road rage a bit but now i expect everybody to drive bad and try to predict what rediculas manouver sombodys going to do every car i see! Quite a lot of the time ive got it right and give a reasuring smile to say "good job i knew you where gonna do that!" usually they smile back knowing their no claims bonus is going to exist for another year yet.

Ive made quite a few silly mistakes driving and most of the time people wont react, and to return the karma to society i always try to do the same, with a baseball bat under the seat just incase.

Agreed. Life's too short to be stressed. :)

Same here too, I always keep a spare keyboard under my seat. Just in case like.

Perhaps the ocuk motors forum should all band together to police the highways - like knights of old in suits of shinning anodised aluminium case armour, hands on the hilts of our keyboards :)

I used to get extremely stressed a few years back, I've now learned to "let it all wash over me" and I enjoy my job a lot more for it. :)

I've more than once opened somebodys door, grabbed their ignition keys and hurled them as far as I can into the most grotty place available! - Not proud of it, but, thats what ignorant / dangerous / arrogant drivers & most people within the M25 area(!) used to do to me. :o

These days, I just relax & watch the idiots rush by, works a treat. :)

:)

I'm glad you stopped doing stuff like this, however it's lucky for you the police were never contacted.

I was assaulted today in my car by someone who suffered from road rage.

Only got a partial (the first four characters) of his license plate, but a good description of his van and him. Reported him to the police, and was told by the person on the end of the phone to give them a ring if I spotted the van or the person again (and to get the full number plate). Then they would go after him.

More details on this later when I draw a diagram of the situation.

It's generally lane discipline that does my nut in, I stick perfectly within my lane on roundabouts, not difficult you might think but anyone over 50 and mostly white van men/mid 30s business men in their beemas don't understand the concept.

I got raged at for this the other day.

The roundabout was four lanes on and only three single lane exits, and I was going straight on from the third lane which meant that I had to put a little power on to beat the Ka to my left. He spends the next mile behind me giving me various hand signals.

Weird.

Isn't the point of the horn to let people know you are there? So if they look like their trying anything dagerous, or are in proccess of doing so you sound the horn, hopefuly stopping a disaster.

After some one has done something kind of dangerous I would think this is acceptable too (although I'd draw the line at consistantly beeping, flashing and shouting at them).

Not sure I understand you right, third lane would suggest third exit right? So that means the Ka was in the lane to come off at second but stayed on the roundabout?
