Road Tripping in the USA!

If you're hiring a Challenger make sure you don't rent a standard one from the usual places. They ran out of cars when we hired something here and ended up giving us a Challenger and it was a massive POS.

I just can't seem to find anywhere that lets you do a one way drop off, going out of state (Nevada -> California)

Planning to do a Westcoast drive this year, just need to set some dates so I can get bits booked.

I haven't got a lot planned atm but I'm doing the usual trip LAX,LAS, San Francisco, San Diego etc.

What time of year do you feel is best to go? Just looking for some personal opinions.

Cheers

August is obviously a very busy month but my past rentals in the same month have been about £750 for 3 weeks with a Mustang.

I thought there was no one way charges between anywhere in CA and NV so the pick up and drop off locations shouldn't matter?

Are you booking at standard convertible or an actual Mustang?

That's why it's pointless (for tourists)

Anyway - One way muscle car rental going out of state? Anyone done it?
Have you checked Sixt? I did a quick search on there and you can get the regular Mustang/Camaro for a one way trip as well as a 4 or 6 series convertible. It suggests that you can get the Mustang GT but it wasn't available on any of the dates I tried.

I got a boring Camry for my May trip, and that was near £400, prices are even heftier for anything above full size these days.

Ah, the old days in the noughties, a mega barge Crown Vic for 14 days = £350, a real car, sadly missed although I
see the cops are still using the Interceptor.

The best weather for California is September-November according to most locals.

I've done many a work trip with a different state drop off all with Alamo in Chargers / Challengers / Cameros / Mustangs without issue.

My last personal trip had a pick up in SF and drop off in LA and again was with Alamo but got a better rate using www.rentalcars.com
