Roads are dead...

Also made the Ferrari sorn as did not want attention from police or public as to why I go shopping in a Ferrari, but in fairness it’s boot is big and can hold a weekly shop easily but driving to shops and back ain’t fun so just thought I’d get the money back as only taxed it back in January so that was pointless.

Was gonna sorn Abarth butnits only got three months left so made no sense.

Just did my essential food shop in the S2000 and took the long route, I engaged VTEC YO about 100 times and had a lot of fun, the quiet roads are awesome!

I guess I'm fortunate in that I actually have a "key worker" letter as of yesterday and should be able to get out a few times a week legitimately. I'll take no shame in taking the scenic route when I do.

lucky if you live somewhere with a scenic route ... let alone a 200mile one.
mobile cell data would probably reveal the trip, like it did for the N. France population pre lock-down

On the local nsl section, without the opportunity to overtake, seems, even the boy race contingent , has relented

I'd imagine a lot of key workers have an increased chance of catching/carrying covid-19 so them doing extra miles for no reason seems a bit daft. I appreciate its unlikely much is gonna happen if you're sitting in your car the whole time but some people out there will stop by petrol stations / shops way outside of their usual commute locations.

In two weeks I've only travelled to and from supermarket so I can understand the appeal of going further afield. My family live 180 miles away and I'd love to visit.

I know its wrong... But I really really also want to take the Porsche out for a spin on an empty road! Other than the moral situation am I right in saying the worse the police can do is give you a £50 fine?!

In my defence, if I leave it on the drive too long the battery may go flat! Which has happened to me before recently.

Im happy I just found the thread. Nice to know im not the only one who WANTS to go out and drive. Note, I have not done this...Yet...

From BBC News:

If someone refuses to follow the regulations - for instance a request to go home - officers can give them an on-the-spot fine of £60, reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days. If they keep breaking the law, more fines can be given - up to a maximum of £960.

Police could ultimately charge someone with the more serious criminal offence of breaching coronavirus regulations and a direction to follow them. This could lead to a conviction in a magistrates court and an unlimited fine.

If you're not a key worker, you'd have to be pretty dim to go out for a drive "just for fun".

Invest in a CTEK Trickle Charger with the cigarette lighter adapter, best thing I did

Good luck. Hopefully you have a bloody good excuse for when they catch you, because if it looks like you are taking the **** I suspect they will throw the book at you. Police will have a distinct lack of good humour at the moment, because they don't want to be out there either, especially not having to deal with tools...

£660...

No need for luck.

No fears about confrontation from authority over my travel needs, more about my blood alcohol content :D

Interesting take to this thread... I throw jokes into most of my posts but for some reason this one is being taken as a troll? Obviously I'm not driving drunk, just stoned.

What strange reactions this topic is breeding...

They are actively pulling people, they were pulling people along the road I live on last night. There was no wind at all or much traffic so I could hear every word he was saying with the window open, they were checking everyone's details & wanting to know where they were going & why. Sounded like they got an uninsured driver too which is a bonus lol.

So far none have bothered with me anywhere along my journeys and I'm currently doing an additional ~20miles due to night road closures, which is actually quite nice as the other night I decided to throw on google maps instead of following the detour and it took me down some really lovely, low hedged curvy roads. Nice area for those types of roads, lots of fun :)
