Sorry to hear about this - hopefully your Christmas isn't ruined by it all!
We were broken into a few years back (2nd time in about as many years) and on the advice of the Police we now have a new higher backgate with 3 locks and a padlock to boot as well as an alarm system with motion sensors etc.
They had gotten in through the back window - by literally taking out the double glazing and then replacing it afterwards!! We didn't realise how they got in until someone went outside and looked at the back of the house ...
Thankfully in our case the fingerprints they managed to lift from the scene were traced back to a bloke who was already serving for some other burglary - he'd left a cigarette butt at another break in which they linked to him and subsequently to the break in at ours!

Did for me a few years back when I got broke into. All they got was 'glove' prints..
Feel for you mate. I had it done whilst i was in bed.. Xbox and dvds.. oh the horror Oh think about the the payout/replacment! always helps.. oh.. dont forget to add stuff to the claim..
