Out of curiosity rather than making fancy atrifical stuff would it be easier to skin a geckos feet?

Yes, but the problem is the foot wouldn't last long. One of the great things about the gecko foot (and most biological systems) is that they have autonomous repair systems built in. If you had a supply of gecko feet you hot swap. Some what more ethical to use an artificial elastomer dry adhesive. And maybe we can go beyond the gecko technology
