My old Rock CTX Pro has finally died.

The screen artifacts heavily during use, and then will BSOD after a period of use.

I think that the fans stopped working and this has damaged the 7900GTX that's installed.

My question:

Where can I get a replacement GPU board?

How does the case come apart to get the fan out to replace it?

The Rock CTX Pro is a rebranded Clevo M570U. The memory, processor hd etc all seem to be fine.... I've managed to renew the cpu/gpu thermal compound, but it's not helped. It gets VERY hot quite quick (the heatpipe from the GPU) so that shows it's making good contact, but the fan doesn't come on...

Mine did the same as that only i have the 7950GTX, If you run the laptop with FN+ F2 you put the fans at 100% :P helps a lot to actually keep the GPU cool, Best thing todo is take the GPU out and bake it in the oven, Then refit the GPU to the laptop and use new MX4 Tim, I did mine recently and now it's fine, I'm even at work atm using the laptop and it's been playing CSGO and Skyrim with no problems since the repair, Good luck :).

.... when does FN+F2 kick in? I tried it in the BIOS, and the main fan (there are 2 - one is back left, and one is middle) back left - does not spin up at all. I think the smaller one is because I can feel a small amount of air coming out the exhaust to the rear....

Relacement boards are usually found from the auction site. Same for getting a new fan.

NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M 512MB DDR3 VGA card - for Clevo-based M57U notebooks

You could try that or send them a message.

Prema says:

Only the M57A, M570A, M575A, M57U, M570U, M575U models share a compatible GPU.

I saw a 2500m card on the auction site, but it's in Canada. Best part of £200 to get it sent over, which makes it cheaper to buy a new atom laptop with HDMI...

I had this laptop, and it did the same thing. I just put mine on the floor and booted it to death though. Any of your lid hinges snap? Both of mine did. Wouldn't have been so bad if all this happened during the 3yr warranty. But, no. A few weeks after then it all starts going pete tong.

RockDirect - MSI build quality for a premium price. Avoid.

I can't agree with your conclusion. My ock LAptop's 6 years old and mechanically sound. I believe that the GPU has died because the main fan has failed. Everything else works fine - which is a shame because with no GPU, the laptop is useless.

I've been very happy with the build quality. Now back on topic please....
