£££ Rockband- Unofficial thread £££

Played RB2 for the first time tonight in quite a while (maybe a week lol) and i think it might have done me good - got high scores on Clouds over California and Constant Motion (116,525k & 236,525k respectively) and finally 5*'d Hammerhead :D

There's quite a few songs I really want to buy soon too, Rude Mood & Testify by SrV, All I Want by the Offspring and one or two others :)

Went crazy today and purchased:

The metallica pack (... and justice for all, blackened and ride the lightning)

and The Hellion/Electric Eye (by Judas Priest)

And I also started using breakneck speed today and OMFG how it improves my playing - I guess Im just used to using hyperspeed on GH but Ive literally noticed today that solos I could barely scrape through on rockband 2 I can now pass without even needing to go into overdrive!

Ride the lightning is awesome on guitar too :D I almost 5 starred it!

Ive got a lot more songs to purchase now - I take back what I said about hammerons in RB2 - I can play them just aswell as GH when I have breakneck speed on.

Does anyone else use breakneck or hyperspeed? It kind of feels like cheating - but everyone on youtube uses it - oh well. I also find it makes playing more frantic and fun!

What about when playing in band mode with more than 1 player? Do people use it then? Cos thats when I usally suck the most!
 
I've never used it. How does it make it easier if It's faster? Maybe I need to try it.

I had a rockband party on saturday night, I hate playing in a band. It really effects my game. Sends my timing right off on the guitar. Drums though I'm fine.

Try it, its hard to get used to at first (hyperspeed isn't because you can adjust the speed).

And I dont like playing in a band either - especially when its done locally, it slows the note board down to whatever difficulty the slowest player is playing on.

Me and my friend play expert guitar and hard drums together sometimes and it slows my board down to hard too, even though I have expert notes - really damn annoying

I don't think it does slow the expert board down? I played hard drums and expert guitar and it was moving at the same speed for me. Everyone else was playing on easy. It certainly wasn't slowed down.
 
Since the PS3 version of Rock Band 2 has finally hit European shores i've been considering a purchase. However the problem is that i'm not particularly excited by the set list. Is there much that the game offers aside from an extra set of music that makes it worth the purchase?
 
I tried this aswell. sure it was faster and split the notes up more to counter act the speed of the thing but how is this meant to be easier / better?

I don't exactly know why all I know that it does make things easier for me. Thousands of people use it, same with hyperspeed on guitar hero - and they use it for a reason :)

I guess its not for everyone?

It only really makes very tight/fast note sweeps (in solo's etc) easier to play. From what i can see the chart moves faster but the spacing between each note is larger so its easier to distinguish between each note.
 
Little challenge for everyone.

I'm currently working on building up my strumming speed and dexterity, and as such, has been practicing a lot of the fast strumming in songs. What I want to know is, what percentage can you get on the following.

Green Grass and High Tides - Solo 2E
Lazy Eye - Gtr Lead 2
Don't Go Away Mad - Solo 1B
Well Thought Out Twinkles - Solo

The highest overall percentage will recieve, as a reward, nothing. Just recognition that you can probably fap quicker than the rest of us.

Enjoy.

(DGAM and WTOT are both DLC costing 160msp each. You don't have to buy them as they won't be taken into account if you don't submit)

Lazy Eye - Gtr Lead 2 - 97%
Don't Go Away Mad - Solo 1B - 85%
Well Thought Out Twinkles - Solo - 95%
 
I dont have Don't Go Away Mad or Well Thought Out Twinkles and don't have enough to buy them :p

However...

Green Grass and High Tides - Solo 2E - 100%
Lazy Eye - Gtr Lead 2 - 100%

How the hell did you do 2E o_0. Best i've got is still 98%, but I got it 3 times in a row. I just loose the speed near the end of the orange streak, and can't regain it for the rest :(

DGAM and WTOT are harder by far though. WTOT is 16nps for about a second, DGAM is about 16.5 for 10 seconds. By contrast, GG&HT is 15nps

Don't Go Away Mad - 16.3 - 16.5nps
Lazy Eye - 16.5nps burst
Green Grass and High Tides - 15.1nps

Thinking of purchasing the Pearl Jam album in part. The only songs from the preview I like are Once, Even flow, Why go and black. Anything else excellent to play thats worth adding?

Anyone have a decent web based demo tool for these songs rather than using the slow in game preview? Any websites for looking at all the songs?
