*** Rocket League *** Car Football

It does start to improve a bit as you gradually grind your way up...

Just finally made it into Bronze II (woop woop) on Solo Standard, and I am not joking just now a guy actually saw me coming in for a good shot and didn't take the shot he had from virtually stationary facing the wrong way! Had to pick my jaw up off the floor after that one

The ragequitting never ends though... felt bad just now after a game went into overtime and dragged on for so long eventually 2 guys on the other team had left... the final guy did a stellar job of defending considering it was 3v1 but eventually he couldn't take it and we got one in

Yeah but it makes you want to quit when you play a couple of good games and win by a healthy lead and get 7 points each, only to then battle through another, lose by a single goal, and then lose 11 points.

Much better playing with mates, so you can co ordinate and not everyone is on the ball.

Myself, Neil and Ice are elite tier extreme pros at rocket league.

But yes, being in a group where you can call a ball, or announce that you are about to cross it into the centre makes a huge difference as you can set up some really nice shots and know someone will actually be there to take them.

Beat a guy in 1v1 ranked this morning... absolutely slammed him 7-0 and then with about 30 seconds to go he typed "omfg u got so lucky" and forfeit...

Hmm, 1 goal sure.... 2 goals maybe... 7 goals though? I think that might have been slightly more than a couple of lucky bounces

nope pure luck 100% no skill at all newb

:p

I wish you could filter out players with a ping over 50. Ruins the game as the ball does mini teleports with a HPB on the field.

You can filter out psn players which seem to be the usual culprits, but I feel better when I get to do the whole pc master race thing on them.

The one thing that annoys me about ranked solo play is that I never seem to get any team mates that understand the basic laws of physics. I get the people that hit the ball no matter what.. We could be in the other half but randomly someone on my own team will punt it back into our half because it's fun to hit stuff.

I've also lost a few games as I've been rammed in the arse when making a save..

Good fun when it goes right though; absolutely carried one game 5-4 so I think I've peaked in my career and will all be downhill from now on :p

Feel your pain Ryan... that's why the game is so much better with mates and voice-comms... as mentioned above it's absolutely invaluable to be able to call out "leave it" or "mine" or whatever and then have your team-mate hold back or peel-off from their less-than-ideal approach at the ball and let you hit it properly...

Is it just me or do the PS4 players sometime seem to not move for several seconds at the start of some matches? Could be a coincidence but it's very scary when your team-mates are all PS4-ers and you end up in goal-position and they don't move at kickoff!!!

Getting on okay in ranked now... currently at the top-end of Bronze II in solo standard :) ... but what happened to the Doubles ranks? Since the rank reset I had been playing some doubles with a mate and we were doing *okay* but not amazing... however I checked this morning and it seems our rank has just been rounded all the way up to 200?! Anyone know why?

Solo ranking isn't so bad now, occasionally get a terrible team-mate but they're far less frequent - plus with the benefit of a bit more experience it becomes easier to play-around a bad team-mate. I find the approach that works is to sort of just treat them as a 4th member of the other team (i.e. if they're shooting/clearing/etc assume the ball will go towards your goal... Try to stay out of their path so they don't bash you out of the way at critical moments etc)

Whats the deal with match making in this game. Mostly playing casual / unranked or whatever it is called. I pretty much always get matched vs Pros / Veterans who probably are 50% of the time in a team. Tried doing ranked matches but was a similiar affair with level / skill.

Is there any way to filter out teams / massive skill / level gaps?

I expect it is partly because that is the sort of level the majority of people are now and partly because they are reasonably close to your actual skill level. Don't forget that your in game level is only an indicator of how long you've been playing, so you can people like me who are 'veterans' but are utterly hopeless and you can get semi-pro people who are incredibly good

The changes to Ranked games are ruining this for me. You lose more points for losing a game than you do for winning. So having a fairly even night with about a 50/50 win to loss ratio, and the result is I've fallen into Unranked on every single category :(

I'm randomly up to Bronze 3? I was at Bronze 1 in both categories and came on today to find I'd got promoted no idea what thats about

Yeah they adjusted peoples ranks based on their hidden mmr. I got put up to Gold 3 in all categories even though I don't play standard much at all. I was Platinum for a little bit in 1v1 but lost a few games in a row :(
