Great Scott! The delorean is pretty sweet :D All the little touches with the animation and stuff. It's funny how many people were driving it last night - 6 deloreans in every game pretty much!

New modes announced for this game.

If you weren't around in the Alpha, mutators are effectively a different set of game settings that alter the game in some way. We had things such as huge balls and unlimited boost which made the game very different. A new mutator was out each week (at the beginning of the alpha, anyway).

Building on that system, Psyonix look set to allow us access to a vast number of options in each game. The launch video shows a number of presets such as cubic (square ball) and moonball (low gravity and extra boost), but also access to individual settings such as the maximum speed of the ball and how much it bounces. The full list of settings displayed in the video is as follows:

Ball bounciness
Ball max speed
Ball size
Ball type
Ball weight
Boost amount
Boost strength
Gravity
Match length
Max score
Pinball
Respawn time
Slo-mo
Time warp
You'll be able to create custom matches with any variation of settings, and there will also be a new playlist called 'Mutator Mashup' which will loop through a pre-defined set.

I can't decide about this...

On the one hand - a big update that adds loads to the game for free and all this fun stuff is totally awesome and I can't wait to see how crazy the matches get with some of these options!!!

But on the other hand one of the things I love so much about Rocket League is that it's kind of brilliant in its simplicity - within 5 minutes you know everything available to you and it's all just honing skills from there... And this might ruin that in some ways, fracturing the playerbase or at the very least making it so your only hope of playing a "normal" game is against super high skilled players you don't stand a chance against

I think when the matchmaking doesn't have enough players of a similar skill level to match you to it gradually widens the search though - so if only high-skilled players are playing in the standard modes (because they don't like the randomness of the more "luck" based mutator modes) you'll often get matched against them...

But it's all speculation at this point - maybe some of the new modes will require even more skill than standard and draw higher skilled players away from it instead...
 
Community is still utterly, utterly toxic... It's a testament to how fun the game itself is that you continue to play in-spite of all the abuse...

The other night in a 3v3 we pulled ahead in the first minute or so, a couple of pretty decent goals. One guy on the other team starts raging. I think he must have gotten bumped by one of the other 2 at some point and decided that would be to blame for everything that was happening...

"ffs"
"i alwasy get matched with noobs"
"you guys suck, forfeit plz"

And by the time of the second goal (the other 2 wouldn't forfeit):

"fine good luck i'll be afk reading the news"

There was nothing wrong with the other 2 players though and without his constant abuse they actually managed to equalise! (yes, made us look bad but hey we all make mistakes). Literally the second they equalised he suddenly starts moving again... So I asked:

"Why are you moving? Thought you were being a little baby?"

"stfu noob"

They managed to squeak in a 3rd goal and he immediately starts laying on the thick smack talk

"wow you guys couldn't even score 2v3"
"total noobs"

We equalised... he says nothing... then we score a 4th goal with about 00:30 seconds to go, and he drops one more "ffs" and disconnects...

ROCKET LEAGUE ladies and gentlemen :rolleyes:
 
I don't know why people get so worked up over this game. I play with some friends and it seems more fun because of how bad we are and we can just laugh about it.

Absolutely - my friends and I are just the same and in fact the best most fun matches I've ever had were when we had enough on to do 3v3 with all 6 of us mates in teamspeak together...

3 on a team against randoms is equally good fun and we have a good laugh. I'm talking about when you're trying to play solo with randoms and against randoms...

That's the thing isn't it... I try really hard to not be a jerk when winning, and not react when others are doing just that. But it's so hard to maintain that when so many players you encounter are just horrible. I'll say "Wow! Nice Shot!" when the other team score 90% of the time (maybe without the "Wow!" if it wasn't actually that great a shot) and say "gg" etc... but do I continue to do that once someone on the other team starts telling me to "just quit the game and uninstall it" "srsly you suck" "EZ EZ EZZZZZZ"...

Do I ****... the second they do that I stop being courteous in any way, and you better believe if we take back the lead I am the grade-A biggest d-bag alive to them in chat and do everything I possibly can to poke at them and get a rise out of them... I just can't help it!!!
 
In a 3v3 we lost and i had the most points on my team but because I had bumped into a team mate earlier he searched me up and told me to go back to playing the other **** games I have. My only "toxic" experience of the game so far. :p
