RockPlayerBase: The Android AVI, MKV, DIVX player

It seems like a good player if the creator can get better h264/hardware acceleration, the built in player on my desire can play an mp4 I have almost perfect in video, but doesnt support the audio codec, rock player runs the video at 8fps and tries to play the audio but its so slow it drops it in half a second.

Definately getting there slowly, being able to play 720x480 mkvs with full audio properly will be the real benchmark IMO. I wonder if 2.2s speed enhancements will help on this front?

Couldn't get it to work on my Magic at all, as soon as I try to open a movie file it just pauses with a blank screen for a couple of seconds, then boots me to my Home screen.

meh, dont have any xvids on my phone to watch... Will just wait for the 2.2 update for the Desire as HTC are bundling 720p recording and xvid/divx with that.

Even if they do it will be a couple of quid at most and well worth it until HTC update with FroYo and we get hardware acceleration!

^^^ i've tried that too...it gets stuck downloading at 1MB using google chrome.

I decided to use IE8 and it has downloaded, at 15KB/S

edit: just tried on google again and it downloaded...how bizarre - tried about ten times earlier today.

New beta works, annoying little "r" logo at top left now, but its improving. Mkv play better, but still stutter. Xvid/divx play fine, as do m4v.
