*** Rogue One: A Star Wars Story *** (NOW WITH SPOILERS)

Vadar arrives in a new Destroyer I think. Remember the Death Star just arrived and the Rebel fleet literally jumps to hyper space but is blocked, literally by a new Destroyer jumping out of Hyper Space.

If you watch it again the star destroyer doesn't dock. Vadar gets the report the Rebel command ship has been disabled so Vadar takes a Imperial Shuttle (one where we are all familar with- inverted Y) and travels to it escorted by a couple of Tie fighters.

I presume he then docks onto the Rebel Ship with a few soldiers.

Am I right to think that the ship escaping happens immediately in Episode 4 or is there some time for it to travel to somewhere before Vadar catches up again??

I would say a bit of time since he would have to find the right CR90. Otherwise the 'diplomatic mission' spiel of Ep IV would not make any sense.

Maybe I have the wrong end of the stick, surely that was just Leia giving excuses? It doesn't mean she really was on a Diplomatic mission? Well, we know she wasn't...

Ever since Star Wars (before it was called A New Hope :D) was released I always read it as a (bad) excuse too

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Particularly the last 30 minutes, which built momentum throughout. Looking forward to seeing it again. My 8 year old was more confused than he was with TFA but still enjoyed it.

Overall the movie was really good, the last 30 mins or so redeemed a rather slow start.

I liked how it was about 15 nameless soldiers invading the imperial base at the end but we get a constant barrage of them all dying. "Make 10 men feel like 100". Almost literally.

I'm glad they didn't kop out and have some heroes survive. It was always going to be a suicide mission. K2 dying was the saddest part!

The CGI was good/bad all depending on scene lighting for me, the darker scenes he was much more convincing, the lighter scenes the CGI stood out a mile.

The Leia CGI was cringe worthy, especially when she smiled.

They probably could have gotten away with the Leia cg if they only showed her side on (having in her shadow wouldn't really work considering her character), showing the entire face just leaves more room for scrutiny.

Be interesting to see Lucas' opinion of Rogue one. He wanted to bring back Tarkin in one of the prequels but the footage they had to use of him wasn't upto scratch so it got canned. Surprised they never attempted to do him all digitally instead of trying to reuse footage. I know he appears in episode 3 at one point from a distance but its apparently not what they wanted to do with him originally.

We saw it again yesterday, and it did not lose anything second time around... in fact I think I enjoyed it even more. My eleven year old son really loved it, and claims its his best SW film so far... my six year old was a bit bored and fidgety, until the last section which he enjoyed. I would say its not really suitable at all for under seven year old's and would not have taken him if we didn't have too.

The CG did not distract so much this time... whether I just accepted it for what it was, or the 2D presentation made it less obvious I don't know [my wife felt the same]... My son noticed Tarkin seemed odd, but didn't spot he was CG... same with Leia.

Looking forward to the Blu Ray in a few months time.

He did bring Tarkin back momentarily in the prequels but just used another actor for the role. As for not attempting to use CGI, I'm not surprised at all! A lot of people aren't happy with the quality of CGI characters now, imagine how much worse it would have been 12 years ago when he last made a Star Wars movie.

I saw it at imax on Friday night and didn't even realise grand moff tarkin was CGI! I had no idea the actor had died ages ago. They did a fantastic job on that one. Leia on the other hand felt very cheesy and i echo one of the other posters on here that her line of "Hope" felt completely out of character.

In general i liked the movie, would give it a strong 7/8 - 10, the nerdy nods to fans were well done, from meeting Ponda Baba on Jedha to the Hammerhead corvette looking just like the Endar Spire from KOTOR. The acting of Jyn was good, though i felt most of the other characters were simple and unlikeable, with the notable exception of K2, the monk and his buddy. Overall the movie starts strong, loses its way halfway (sometime after the destruction of Jedha) and regains its mojo in a big way once the fleet jumps in.. the ending 10 mins is fantastic (at least the space bits.. the bits on the planet feel a bit pointless).

I just wish they managed to squeeze the dark forces story in there somewhere and include Kyle Katarn!

If you didn't realise that Tarkin was CGI then I'm sorry but you are not the sharpest tool in the box. :p
