Rollercoaster Tycoon 4

Why would you rush out and buy it if its probably going on steam? , so him saying that means it wont be a direct download game...

Watch the death ride parks on youtube there pritty funny, people would construct a ride which in someway is designed to kill..

come on guys 2D in 2010? Never played the series but I just watched a few trailers of RCT3 and it looks awesome!

Is that supposed to mean something? 2D doesn't somehow mean 'outdated' if theres a gameplay justification. Theres a lot of great indie games done in 2D.

A couple of months ago there was talk of a rollercoaster tycoon movie doing the rounds on the podcasts.

Wonder if there's any connection, reguards to a licence tie in. Could be bad news if so, it'll be more theme park/thrillville over the detailed love of the originals.

Some games just work better in 2D. I always felt Rollercoaster Tycoon was one of them. Something about the transition to 3D just destroyed the charm that the earlier games had.

2D doesn't necessarily mean bad, look at the Sonic series of games for example; the newest one is going back to a 2D side-scroller in HD because all the 3D iterations sucked. They could even make RCT4 with 3D models and the like, just fix the camera in a way that makes it feel like the older games.

Don't forget Worms. The game just didn't work at all.

Of course 1&2 was best, it was designed by Chris Sawyer (in x86 assembly may I add). Until Sawyer leads development on RT4, expect quite a flop.

Would love a new RCT game.

I liked all 3 of the games but to be honest i hated the graphics for the 3rd one so if they go HD with a half 2d/3d perspective then i'll be happy because although the gameplay was good i always wanted better graphics to go along with that

Plus they need to have ride-able coasters/water slide like in 3 because i made some extreme coasters that used the whole park build-able area but left enough space for some other rides in between.

They also to need to implement custom content into the core game because you could create many parks, coasters....etc and save them but there was no in-game way to share them or not that i remember.

It just needs to be an old-skool RCT game in feel...etc but brought up to date in terms of graphics and the like although it better not be done the same way as RCT 3 was.

I'm pretty sure there are enough talented game developers around to make an awesome RCT Game without the need for Chris Sawyer to be involved.

Making it 2D only will only appeal to fans though, they would have to make it cheap and steam only, they wont shift huge volumes in 2d as any new players would be put off unfortunately. I agree though 2d is way better for this.

Wasn't RT3 handled by Braben's Frontier Developments? Their next effort was the awful kiddified Rollercoaster thing on the 360 (I forget it's name)? I dread to think that RT4 will have the same brush of disney slapped all over it. My son enjoyed it but the RT fan in me detested it (apart from a couple of the side games which were actually rather good).

Hoping for a RT4 game that concentrates on technical coasters and park management rather than making everything pretty and trying to bring social interaction into it, ugh *shudders*

RCT1 and 2 were really fun management sims.

RCT3 was just a sandbox heaven. If you go to Shyguy's World forums ( http://www.shyguysworld.com/index.php?board=15.0 ) you'll see the true potential of it being achieved. The hardcore RCT3 players use it purely for creative purposes - park management is no longer important.

I love them all, but I personally spent more time on 3 than the first 2, because it's probably the greatest game ever made for being as visually creative as you want.

You never know about the 2d. remember they released an updated "version" of transport tycoon - locomotion, that was 2d when most of the other games were in 3d.

The would have to be 2d for me to consider it.
