Room swap problem...what would you do?

At uni i live in a house with 3 other guys. Theres 3 double bed rooms and 1 single, the double beds all being roughly the same size.

Anyway back in September, just before uni started, i got my room here as the 5th person had failed and wasnt coming back or something, anyway i was showed my room, and told this is your room, rent is £x/m.

Over the next few weeks i heard from people in the house that the guy in the single room, wanted to swap rooms with a larger one at Xmas. I knew nothing about this, and was told he just picked that room, but apparantly he did so it was easier to fill the last room before term started, on the basis he would swap with someone. I said it shouldn't involve me, as i was told nothing about it when i got my room.

Anyway i got back on sunday, and 1 guy in the house briefly mentions the guy in the single room is planning to put names in a hat and pick the person he's swapping with, im thinking 'lol', still thinking it doesnt involve me.

About 20 mins ago, im sleeping, (been ill since yest) knock knock on my door from the single guy room, says hes putting names in a hat, can he borrow me for a min. Im like huh errmm ok ok. Now im thinkin hmmm are they gona put my name too. Ok now heres where i messed up: thinking theres a 66% chance he wont pick me, instead of kicking up a fuss, ill stay quite, and hopefully he will pick someone else, and that will be the end of that for me. Well you guessed it, my name came out of the hat. He says that they had agreed to do it this week, and that Saturday would be the room swapping day, all of which is news to me !

Now i definately do not want to swap rooms, and dont think i should. But seeing as i didnt stop them putting my name in the hat, what would you do right now? was still half asleep :o
 
With a 1 in 3 chance of my name coming out I'd have told them to go screw.

Choices:

Tell them your bed and stuff won't fit in the little room.
Tell them you'll all be switching again after Easter if you move.
Tell them you want to pay less if you have the little room.
 
Tell him to shove it and that he shouldn't of put your name in the hat? He cant force you to swap rooms. Man up.
 
just dont move. he cant make you! can he ??

Also did you all signed individual contracts for the specific rooms if so he defo cant make you move cos your contract says YOUR renting that room.

yep they said it would be for the next 11 weeks, untill easter

he said he paid the same amount as everyone else for the last 12 weeks while he was there

Yep i know, but then the question will come when he was putting my name in the hat i didnt say anything :o

Yes, i said i wasnt happy with it, nobody told me about all this, when i got my room i wasnt told anything about a swap...basically ended with us all just standing there, i said i cant accept it, and would have to think about it.
just dont move. he cant make you! can he ??

i doubt the contract is for individual rooms. and yes he cant MAKE me move lol. If i just blankly refuse, then that would definately create a lot of tension in the house. But then again, these guys aint my type of guys, its not as if i will ever see them again in my life after this year finishes

If you all signed one piece of paper then its a joint contract. But if you have your own contract on a separate piece of paper i know that mine states the room that you are renting. I'd check it if i were you.

If not you sound like your a bit burgered!

im pretty sure its a joint contract, they never told me about any possible room swap when i signed it.
 
Tell them if your swapping one room why not all of them?

Ask for all to draw straws as you might prefer to be at the front of the house, or back etc.

I dont see why its just him swapping tbh.
