Room swap problem...what would you do?

If you weren't party to the whole 'room swap' thing before you moved in, you shouldn't be made to move out of your room.

But if you didn't object to your name being in the hat, it just looks like you're a bad loser as your name came out.

Would you have moved in if you'd known you would end up in the small room? If not, tell them to stuff it.
If you might have, then ask for a re-draw to see who gets the small room with ALL names going in the hat.

I know thats what it looks like, but literally every time this thing came up in a convo last term with any other housemates i was talking to, i always made it clear it shouldnt involve me, even today i wasnt sure whether i was just there to watch, or they were putting my name down, and when i saw they were, i honestly thought 'ok i can either start an argument about it now that my name shouldnt be there, or, chances are i wont get picked, then there will be no arguement, which would be better for all of us. Obviosuly i didnt think it through fully, but it was all over in 2 mins, by the time i realised, my name was picked..

no i would have not

Is that your theme for today or something?

I think so...my head aches from being on the forum all day and i cant be bothered to make another thread...lol.. I mean seriously what will jesus do?.... lol . I apologize.

What exactly does your contract say? If you're through a letting agency, then go and speak to them, and state that you are no longer getting what was advertised to you. It's not on for them to mis-advertise the room in an attempt to get a 4th person. Of course, you really should have stood up to them before now, so you're in a bit of a tough situation. I'd definately try and have a word with whoever you're renting the room from though.

So the person with the single room could have never lost.....but all the rest of you could...he had no risk........

Yeah who you rentying it off.

Yeah **** in his bed... :D ....but it may be your bed on saturday...better not make it a runny one. :D

Sorry.

You played the game you accept the results. Expect a rough ride if you refuse to swap now. Before you had a case; but now you're at risk of turning into 'that guy'.

Reckon it's too late to change things. As you say, you had an opportunity to sort it out but you went along with it.

Do you have a lock on your door ???

Tell him the room is his he won fair and square.

Tell him you have four keys to four rooms and he has to choose one...you know the rest.

But seriously you sure your name was not on all three they may have scammed you to save thier own rooms.

i dont do anything with my housemates anyway, hardly ever see them, didnt know them before i moved in, got other friends who are more fun and i hang out with, so i really dont care if im 'that guy', will probably never see them after this year anyway !

none of our doors have locks, not quite sure what you mean with the 4 keys to 4 rooms thing, i dont know the rest  and yes im sure my name was not on all 3. i dont think he won it fair and square, my name should never have even been there

anyway gona chat with him/them later and say sorry but cant do the swap, wasnt told about it when i first came, and didnt say anythin when they were putting names down as i didnt want to start an argument, but that my name should have never been there in the 1st place, so they are gona have to sort it out themselves

worst comes to worst ill get my keyboard out :D

He moved out of the room on purpose to get someone else (you) to move in because they knew you'd be more likely to move in to the larger room.

There's no way in hell I'd swap now. There's no need to feel bad, they tried to dupe you into moving into a room knowing they'd try and swap you out of it. They didn't tell you at the time you took the room it was adraw every so often to see who gets what room, if anyones been ***** it's them.

They did a dodgy deal to get someone in (presumably to save them having to spilt the rent 3 ways instead of 4). They can argue amongst themselves who takes the small room, it's got stuff all to do with you. They did the deal not you.

Don't take any crap, they tried to be smartarses and knew what they were doing, you did not. Nothing to do with you whatsoever no matter when you said anything about it or not.

If they say anyhting about the draw you can tell them you'd already told them you came into the house on the basis of the room you have, you've already told them you're not swapping around in the past and if push comes to shove they been listening to you so you couldn't be arsed to argue about the draw but you're still not moving.

Sounds grumpy i know but people trying to dupe others like that gives me the right hump, especially if they try to guilt/bully you into it.

Unless they are thick they are perfectly aware what they are doing and that it's not on, especially as the small room bloke got left out of the draw so it wasn't even a fair chance all round.

Stand your ground, remind them it was a deal between the three of them, not you, no hard feelings, but it ain't going to happen.

Unless of course you said, yep, lets do a fair draw in which case Duhhh!

You didn't rent a random room every 11 weeks. You rented THAT room at THAT price and tell them you'll kill all their parents if they try to move you.

And if they move you, do kill all their parents, otherwise you'll look like a pussy.

tell them its your room and you are paying rent. DONT move room as you were not aware what they had planned and its not fair. this is so stupid of your housemates. talk to the guy who wants to move rooms about it. girls are more likely to suggest this, not guys. tension may arise, i have problems with one of my housemates, i told her about them in a nice manner and she still acts immature b****. i can be twice the b****, though im civilised to her because of my other housemates. she is the only housemate im not friends with and i dont act it either. no point being false with her or giving her hope.

You never agreed to this, you weren't properly informed. Admittedly you should have said something earlier but the bottom line is they're trying to bend you over.

Put your foot down! Stay where you are.
