Royal Mail Rant

Just checked an ebay order I placed last week, it was sent 48 hour delivery but instead looks like it's doing a tour of 48 delivery offices and mail centres, it's currently at something like 5 offices in 5 days.

Royal Mail is bonkers. I send a lot of stuff and as much as people complain about Evri I have way more issues with RM parcels that I have sent

I have issues with both... well all. I will say that for a while I had an excellent service with Royal Mail until the postie left and they got in new ones who are either lazy or don't have a clue on what they are doing.

People come and go in Royal Mail, sometimes you get decent workers and other times you get incompetent lazy ones that scan your items off as delivered regardless of where they have been posted too or dumped in some cases.

What tends to happen in my area is that there will be a decent postie around for 2 or 3 months then that one leaves and a new one starts or they have a few working in the area and then the trouble begins again until another postie takes over who actually delivers mail correctly.

Evri are terrible but in most cases they do end up delivering whether that be a late delivery or one on time you still get your things 9 times out of 10 and they take a photo of your door/door mat so if it does go to the wrong address you can find it by the photo of the door.

My main issue with Evri is the way they treat peoples parcels, more than half of mine arrive in semi crushed boxes or torn packaging and if you order anything glass or fragile, forget it... it wont be in one piece.

I had an issue with Yodel earlier. I was watching the driver on the tracking app where you can see the location of the driver. The driver was literally around the corner so close that I could have seen the driver from my window so I waited expecting the delivery driver to ring the door bell at any minute... nothing so I waited... still nothing. I go back to the app and the driver has left the area, then some more time passes, the driver has completely gone of the map. A few hours later "delivery attempted" the driver didn't even bother coming to my address. My guess is that he probably got a bit lost and rather than walking up a few meters more up the road he turned back to the van and left.

Yeah there is a Evri warehouse local and I've seen them chucking them about, they don't care

have they reduced delivering post in other parts of the country ?

we only get it once a week now and some of that seems to be stuff they have already been sitting on for weeks.

I had about 20 letters delivered at the end of last week in one go, multiple missed hospital appointments for my mum. My car tax & insurance reminders from the month before.

:p dont think we will be getting christmas cards till easter at this rate.

I have not had any mail through my letterbox for about 3 weeks now. Maybe someone else is getting my mail?
We also get different postman/postwoman everytime I get a letter posted..

It doesn't shock me.
It wasn't Royal Mail but one day I waited for a delivery of a Mackie 3000 watt PA system - 4 bass bins and 2 tops,
I was sitting by my PC next to the window when I saw the driver stop, get out and look at what he'd got to deliver then drive off.
I ran out of the house to the top of my street where I was able to stop him (my street goes around in a circle).
I asked him why he drove off from my house and he claimed he'd knocked but I wasn't in.
I told him I was sitting by the window waiting to give him a hand.
He still claimed he'd knocked so I said well let's go back to mine and you can see video evidence.

A few months ago a neighbour asked me to check my cameras because Royal Mail claimed they had tried to deliver to the two houses either side of him.
I sent him the video, a woman got out, knocked on his door and got straight back in the van.
They are all lying gits.

It's funny how I've been reading this thread and I've had a Royal Mail delivery at the same time just now.

No drama though. Thankfully they did knock on my door and didn't do a runner.

Companies get privatised and suddenly become terrible for consumers?

Colour me shocked.

Then governments and regulators not doing enough and when they do anything its a fine that makes no difference to these companies and guess where the money goes to them not the customers having the issues and should be getting the money as compensation. Its just a huge scam all of it now. Zero service from any of these delivery companies most of the time and the rare gem (what we use to call normal service).

Sensationalist BS. BBC reports on one isolated case and suddenly the whole company is shambolic? Yeah, let's just ignore the thousands of Tracked, SDs and 1st class that get delivered without an issue by posties up and down the country, every single day. Why not eh?

It's also the skyrocketing price.

All journo's are full of ****, but for many that is the reality of that failed business.

I for one would be more than happy to pay slightly more to have Amazon/DPD and a few more deliver what RM cannot do.

because this is not an isolated case, plenty of people are suffering with the same poor service. It's not limited to Royal mail either (I know this is a royal mail rant thread)
It just so happens that this particular instance was caught on a camera to provide irrefutable evidence that it happens/happened.

I don't know whats special about us, but letter mail is delayed by at the minimum, a week. Sometimes 2 weeks if it even comes at all. I don't live in the middle of nowhere and there is a major sorting office the other side of the town. Parcels seem to be ok from Amazon, but you don't get notified of them being delivered on that day until AFTER they have been delivered which seems pointless. Its a race to the bottom and the price you pay to send a letter, you might as well send it via parcel to go for not much more.
