Royal Mail to be floated on stock exchange

- Whenever I go the Post Office, I have to wait ages because there is always a massive queue of people, who are mostly there to do things which aren't postage.

That's true, seriously do all these people paying bills etc at the post office come from the past?

People buying the shares for this crappy company must be mad, who invests in a company that is in an unrecoverable downward spiral?

Speculators that want to earn a quick profit on the first few hours of trading.

They say supply has been greatly outstripped by demand.

Price will go boom on the first day and collapse to normal after all the ***** have made their profit.

'David Jones, chief strategist at IG Index, said: “The last time we saw a grey market as popular as this in the UK was lastminute.com in 2000. It’s nearly as popular as Facebook 18 months ago.” '

And remind us what happened when facebook started trading Dave..

We're selling off the Royal Mail for £3.5bn and taking on £10bn in pension liabilities.

Ideology over economic sense yet again.

Just curious, if someone applied shares, do they get them at the 330 price that they start trading at or at a higher/lower price (so more or less shares) depending on when the government allocates and lets them know?

It could dramatically affect the number of shares allocated to the smaller private investors.

You get them at 330.

I might be wrong with that.....

Brokers all saying that these shares should be worth 599p to help incite a buying frenzy...

With the dismantling of the monopoly, vast reduction of letters being sent and an unhappy strike-prone workforce I don't think it's a long term hold.

So I've read you wont get anything if you've applied for over £10K. I applied for £2K with X-o anyone know how many I'll get ?

Vince Cable favours a taper whereby anyone who applied for over 10k worth gets none but those who applied for £750 will get the full amount. That being said I can't see the tories and their mates agreeing to this.
