RS4 Vs M3

How big is the boot on a GTR compared to an M3/4? I've only ever poked around a GTR up close years ago but it did look pretty massive so i'd guess it's fairly big in the back? However if your looking the kind of person that wants an RS4 or M3 i doubt anything japanese would be of interest. Lack of squishy plastic!

Managed to get a mountain bike in the boot of a GTR, it's deceptively large.
No rear legroom though, so an RS4 or M3 are easily going to be more practical.

I've no appetite to drop 50-60k on either so I'd buy an older car and save the money.

Many thanks for the input guys, I don't think that this car will be changed in the near future so don't mind sinking some money into it, don't change cars frequently full stop and I cant imagine ill be bored of anything like this anytime soon (bearing in mind ive had my Civic for 6 years and have been happy with it).

GTR is a good shout but unfortunately the Mrs has her eye on one for the replacement for her 350z in a few years so its been vetod.

I love Jags more than most people but even I reckon that's far too old a platform to be spending that kind of money on.

If you're talking 60 grand that will get you an XJ. Completely different to where you started the thread - but as Fox pointed out with the 6 series gran coupe you will feel like its a 60 grand car.

Unrepentant Jag fanboi here. Feel free to completely ignore me. I won't be offended by your lack of taste ;-)

M3/M4 can be had for less than 50K for a sub 1year old one already so they are dropping quite quickly, even for a well spec'd one. 18 month old old M6 can be had for early-mid 50's if you don't mind the coupe or 60k if its the GC, but the GC is a bloody big car however you look at it.

XFR is end of life and will be replaced later this year, so there are deals to be had on them, but then its quite an old platform now and the technology in it really shows its age. Similarly the current gen A4 is end of life and shortly to be replaced.

I know I'm biased but for everyday usage I'm finding my 640d hard to fault (apart from the faults ;) and the crap dealer), its quick, ridiculously comfortable and does have a certain ambiance about it that is lacking in most other cars in the similar price range. For what it is the running costs are cheap, I'm averaging north of 35 mpg in the 3500 miles I've done in it and on long journeys can get well over 45mpg. Servicing is £500 for 5 years or 60k, tyres are expensive but then will be on any car that runs wide 20" wheels all round, but other than that its cheap to tax and insure. Having had an XFR I'd say that for 99% of the time its performance is on par and doesn't have a serious drinking problem when you do use the performance, which isn't exactly lacking...just my 2p worth...

I know its a completely different car, but if you are willing to consider a M5 maybe a Panamera S or 4S.

They hold value very well after the first 2 years. I ran one for a year, put 20k miles on it and lost £2.5k!!!

Or if you want to go bonkers get a Turbo or GTS

These would be my first choice over a Audi and BMW. :D

Does the Panamera still have the rear spoiler that slides out? That's a lovely piece of engineering.

Edit: It's worth it just alone for this!

Out of all the current ones, personally I'd have a C63. Following that I'd have the Jag, then the RS4, then the M3.

Don't forget the character of the engines from an M3 to and RS4 will be very, very different.

Panamera does absolutely nothing for me.
