Getting bad RSI a the moment, particularly since I started my new job. Am tempted by a trackball but just found out about this http://www.evoluent.ca/ It makes a lot of sense, even when I just put my hand in that position it feels more natural. What say you?

I used to feel the strain with generic mice, thats why I got my MX518. It is more suited to my hand than any other mice. I think chunky mice help a lot over smaller ones.

Where are you getting the RSI? Left hand only? Have you looked into your posture?

This isn't really a medical thread, nearer hardware for someone who suffers from something. ;)

Right hand only, on the right side of my wrist mainly, i have an mx1000 which has helped a bit and had my desk adjusted and what not so it's a bit better. Just don't want to do any permanent damage and am really tempted by this vertical mouse, just put off by the price unfortunately :/

God posture and positioning right from where you sit in relation to your keyboard mouse and monitor will all help. I know it sounds simple but so so many people don't use it.

If you're getting RSI - try one of those powerballs, I'm sure that there are some people here who swear by them.

It's in Canadian dollars, so you can pretty much half the price (£40), which is about the same as what you'd pay for a decent mouse here. :)

I started getting RSI symptoms a few years back, and switching to a mouse with a high bank on the left side (in this case it was the old MS Intellimouse Pro) really helped to ward it off.

Have you tried asking your employer to get the mouse for you? Unless they're real skinflints they'll probably get one for you if you mention RSI. Then you can try it at their expense, and buy one for home if you like it.

You could always get a normal mouse, and take out the internal circuitry build an angle body extension and stuff the circuitry in there but that could be too much work :(

Hi mate,

Give this thread a good read, it's one I made a while back and I suffer from it too http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17532726&highlight=rsi

Get these, I use them:

*Miicrosoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 Pro - Will work wonders, best keyboard i've ever used bar none.

*VerticalMouse 2 - Get from Ebay, still causes pain but 3x less than a regular mouse.

*Powerball - Fantastic for gentle strenghtening and re-habilitationof wrists, forearms but use sparingly to start with.

*Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred 9 - Use this at home and cuts typing in half at least. train it and be happy.

Limit your gaming/personal computer time and go see a physio that knows about the condition, I reccommend going to see your GP first and then letting them diagnose it and book you an appt. You can get back on track if you're willing to be sensible and do what you're told.

:)

Good luck with doctors is what I say :(

I thought* I was suffering for years from RSI. Doctor just kept telling me to change my job etc. Yeh, fat chance.

Now turns out it isn't RSI and I'm having MRI scans and all sorts to work out what the problem is, after I got a doctor to listen to me. It's that bad I have to use a mouse and all sorts left handed now (I'm right handed-the problem wrist/hand).

thanks guys, going to take all this on board. Have found the evoluent for £59 which seems to be cheapest anywhere.
Richdog, keyboards look great, I need a 5 button mouse though unfortunately due to the nature of my work.
I do have a powerball and used to use an intellimouse pro but I lost it when I changed jobs...funny though as I never used to suffer from it there, maybe I should just get one of those again.
