RST Driver quick question

Hello,

I have just installed my Samsung 830 SSD drive and completed a fresh install of Windows 7 SP1.

I have run AS-SSD Benchmark and it is using the MSAHCI Driver.

When I attempt to install the lastest RST drivers from the Intel Website it states that my PC does not meet the minimum requirements. I am not using RAID but I would still like to use these drivers to see if I get an increase in performance.

Has anyone got any ideas why I can't install them?

I have installed the latest chipset drivers for my motherboard (Asus p5e-vm-hdm direct from Intel)

I could potentially install the .inf file manually but I wanted to also use the GUI that I see a lot of people using.

Cheers

P

Thanks for the quick response, I get the same message.

I did find this:

http://support.asus.com/FAQ/detail....BEGTQ&no=84D794C2-A690-4676-D67A-24B961836359

However my board is in AHCI Mode.

I have my main SSD and two other SATA Disks installed.

Would it make a difference if I uninstalled the two SATA disks? in theory if that worked it may mean doing that everytime a newer version was released which would seem ridiculous.

Thinking about it I did not specify the drivers when i did the fresh install, I set the Bios to AHCI mode and installed Windows 7.

Should I have supplied the drivers? I'll try the link now and report back.

no windows 7 installs drivers for you,all you have to do is set to ahci mode before win7 installation,xp/vista needs pre install drivers first

I thought that, I have checked the registry entries prior to importing the reg you have just supplied. the only difference is this key: DriverPackagaeID

I currently have this:

mshdc.inf_amd64_neutral_a69a58a4286f0b22

Edit Latest BIOS

ohh its amd board? i dont know if rst drivers work for amd,i think its just for intel boards (sorry im a noob with amd boards)

no its an Intel :)

Asus-p5e-vm-hdmi G35 Chipset

In Device Manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers it states:

Intel ICH9R/DO/DH
Driver Provider: Intel
Driver Date: 08/06/2010
Driver Version 7.0.0.1013

I have double checked the BIOS and it is definitely set in AHCI mode.

Maybe they won't install because it is not set as RAID in the BIOS?

I am also running the lastest firmware for my board.

This is getting annoying now :)

it should work then, and it should work in ahci mode in the bios, raid is the same thing as ahci as it includes ahci drivers

The RST software thinks it is in IDE mode, hence the message. The only other option is to attempt another install with the drivers on a floppy disk, but I don't have a floppy drive or a floppy disk!

The BIOS is set to AHCI and all the other drives were unplugged at the time of installation.

I can't see any other option unless I slipstream the latest RST drivers into a Windows 7 SP1 ISO

why not set it to RAID then install the drivers...RAID will support standalone disks as AHCI...as stated above, the driver includes support of AHCI as well as RAID.

I also supplied the drivers during install but didn't need a floppy. The floppy drivers are in a folder inside the zipped download. Just unzipped the download onto usb drive and navigated to it when given the option to supply drivers during install. I used W8RP so don't know if that W7 tat ;-) reads from usb drives during install or just floppy drives.

Hi,

I tried copying them to my 16GB USB drive, Windows 7 should allow you to find the drivers, but it would not locate them when I re-installed.

I have confirmed that I am definitely in AHCI mode. In Device Manager I checked and the AHCI standard controller was in installed. I then installed the mobo chipset drivers and it changed the standard controller to:

Intel ICH9R/DO/DH 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller - 2922

I am not overly fussed about the RST drivers, I've got bored of trying to install them.

I'll post some benchmarks up once I have installed everything else. ( I am only running SATA II as well)
