RTS / TBS Strategy game recommendations?

Starcraft 2 is indeed an economy game. You gather minerals and gas to build units. Once you have a sizeable army you either complete the mission, or kill the other player (if playing multiplayer).

The single player in Starcraft 2 is excellent, highly polished and addictive.

(Be warned though, Starcraft single player is like the gateway drug that leads to multiplayer addiction...)

haha. i dont have time for multiplayer anything any more. 19 month old running around that eats my time too much for that.

as long as i can play against the mrs im happy really.

C&C 3 Tiberium wars great RTS

i have just had a look on youtube at some gameplay and it looks fun.

do you know if this can be played on LAN? if not can i connect to my mrs via the internet or is it just random opponents like in some games?

i take it you have to find tiberium like the old games?

I honestly think Starcraft 2 would be the best fit for your needs. If your only ever playing the Mrs you don't need to worry about developing any kind of skill with the game.

You can just set the game to be as slow paced as you like and enjoy base building and having fun. Cracking single player if your ever bored too!

Not sure about lan but you can play online and host your own room, you can also play you and your Mrs vs 2 other people online. You harvest tiberium there are 3 factions to play as, Kane wrath expansion great as well it adds more units and factions.

If you enjoy C&C series you might like C&C Red Alert 3 it has coop LAN as well on-line mutliplayer & single player

does it have to be 4 players or is it 2-4 players? i guess me and the mrs can team up and beat another player anyway :)

what kind of spec is your tablet ?

modern rts's like starcraft 2 tend to like beefy cpu's and lots of physical memory to run well so i would check that first.

you could try homeworld which is still one of my favourite rts's of all time.

yeah its just an integrated GPU on an i3 1.4ghz dual core.

runs C&C3 ok on medium but i know it wont run starcraft 2 well. i was more on about the original starcraft, which should be fine.

Anyone looked at this Eador game on steam?

I looked at videos and it looks really nice, very polished.

Looks a bit like HOMM with a Civilization style campaign map.

Starcraft 2 - great campaigns that will last you a while as a casual gamer. Also multiplayer has good matchmaking system so even if you hardly ever play you'll get to play someone the same level. Furthermore there's a huge range of "arcade" games that people make using the game engine and there's a lot of fun ones.

(looking forward to my royalties)

I would wait it buggy i found a few bugs and had trouble installiong it, they fixed the tutorial where you finished it and when you started a new game you had to play though it again.

I like it but it was driving me mad earlier because of bugs and the tutorial.

edit, you looked at warlock master of the arcane?

downloaded the whole C&C back catalogue and oh my C&C4 is a bit of a disappointment. no resource gathering at all. just feels boring not being able to build base, defend and amass and army.
