Is it just me or does the Gigabyte RTX 2070 X2 Windforce run hotter than it should do? Just did a run of Heaven Benchmark and it's hitting 83/84C with a very modest overclock to the core and memory. Without overclocking it still hits around 80C and this is at 90% fan speed, causing the clocks to drop to around 1770/1800mhz

Both the previous card did the same which had to be RMA'd due to a faulty fan and so does this one and the fans are fine.
 
That's a crazy amount of fan speed for a stock clock. How is the ventilation in your case? I'm assuming it's fine so you might just be **** out of luck.

Hexus are getting 67 degrees when gaming, are your results similar to this?
 
I have a Gigabyte 2070 Super Gaming OC, almost the same as yours but slightly bigger heatsink, I too got bad temps under extreme load in my old case that only had one 120mm intake and one 120mm exhaust.

Switched up to a high airflow aluminium case with quality fans, 2 x 140mm and 1 x 120mm for intake, with same setup for exhaust at slightly less power for positive pressure, card now between 63 and 68 under max load.

Unless card is faulty it's likely an airflow issue. You could take off PCI slot covers to improve air flow to the card, I use these instead for a cleaner look.

Does seem like the card is running a bit toasty. However if you case has poor airflow then it can massively impact the temps seen by the GPU (as in it may not be the GPU itself).

As a reference point my Gigabyte 2070S Gaming OC hits about 60c with the fan set to auto in my Lian Li O11 air (6x120mm intake* & 3x120mm exhaust*)

*3 on a 360mm rad as intakes and 2 on a 240mm rad as exhaust.

I had the arous 2080ti playing fort nite it would hit 87 the zotac I have sits about 70 odds ..
 
Either poor case flow or thermal paste needs reapplying. I had to do the paste on a RTX 2060 the other day that was having the same type of issue.

Both Gigabyte's 2070 X2 Windforce were higher in temps :eek:
 
It was a MSI Gaming Z which always had temps of 65c. All of a sudden the fans went blazing fast and temps were 80 and over.

Even a manual fan curve didn't help so I redid the paste and it worked perfectly.

Consider it as a last resort.
 
Will look into improved cooling for the case then! Not sure what else I can do but i'll try :)

What temps do you get with the side panel removed vs with the side panel on ?

I have the same case!! It's a good one.

You might have a problem with airflow though. It sounds like you have 4 intake fans but only 1 exhaust fan. Easiest way to check for airflow issue is to test it with the side panel off.

Should I try for..

3 intake at front
2 exhaust ( Back / Top )
