Get your popcorn and pitchforks out. Nvidia is making friends again by trying to shaft entry level gamers.

Losing 35% performance due to have 8gb vram instead of 12gb. That's crazy, clearly 12gb is the minimum required for gaming, Nvidia should not be allowed to make any less

It's also a more cut down chip from the 3060 12GB, so again nvidia playing the stupid naming game , the one they know confuses customers like the 12GB 4080 they "UNLAUNCHED" because was confusing customers.. They really have shown their true colours and heading to hell soon. You really have to be daft to throw money at them while they are doing this. They deserve a reality check now and sent back to where they belong.

It's the bus not the RAM amount that is killing performance. 192 bit to 128 bit bus dropping from 360 to 240GB/s.

Shameful to market this as the same model.

its 3050ti at best. Still, the average, uninformed customer will buy it.

That's what it should be named 3050ti... not a 3060 in any form.

Once the 4060's come out they will compare their fake x2 x4 times faster to this card... it's the master plan from Nvidia to up sell their current gen by comparing it to an either over priced card or a card they released right before the real cards come out so the reviews look good or better than what they would have been. Clearly the 4060's are going to be minor updates with these games being played.

I had not thought about that angle. You are clearly a more devious person than I am , have you considered working for Nvidia ?

Nvidia has been doing this for ages. Nothing new from the green goblins ... They are just getting worse with it now and more obvious to the point they don't care what customers think as they know they have their review bandwagon youtubers/reviewers that will up sell it while they fill their pockets with free gpus and money. ;)

I'm not devious just observant of devious people/companies and the tricks they play and watched Nvidia long enough with these games.

It will be a big own goal for Nvidia if reviewers use the performance figures of the new card instead of the old one.

They only just noticed this?

I just realised..... Nvidia did it again, you have to look closer to realise that is not an RTX 3060, its 8GB, 128Bit bus as opposed to 192Bit 12GB for the 3060 proper.... its an RTX 3050Ti.

They just keep doing this, over and over and over again... absolutely no shame.

I agree with HUB with it would have been better to change the name to something like 3060 LE 8GB.

Yup, like i said, its a 3050Ti, look at that....

Nvidia know exactly what they are doing, they know most people don't know the difference, most people think they are just getting a slightly cheaper 3060, they are defrauding their customers, this is the type of company Nvidia are....

And people wonder why we just can't stand them as a company, no, they are not all the same, some are just cynical #### holes.

I always thought it was weird that the 3060 has more memory than everything else short of the 3080 12Gb edition but this was not the right way to go about sorting out that weirdness. Nvidia are doing themselves real reputational damage with these shenanigans.
