Hell, where else?
Hi all

So I joined the 3090 club, having got bored of waiting for stock of the 3080's and expecting the 3080-Ti to be the same.

Now I want a 4k monitor to do this card justice, currently I have a real nice AOC 34" Ultra-Wide 3440x1440 (its a superb monitor, will be keeping it) that I bought here from OcUK.

Can someone please recommend a 4k monitor that won't be a step down in size of the AOC I have? yes I realise its going to cost, but then I am used to my ultra-wide and don't want to go backwards in terms of viewing / size.

Thanks

Thanks - looks good, but its a big drop in size, I don't know if I can go backwards in screen real estate.

But then a 34" is going to cost the earth?

You don't get a 34 UW 4K monitor. If wanting high refresh, it's either 27 or something like the big LG TV.

The loss of real estate isn't too bad if you use a second monitor along with it.

It not 4k But how about a 38" 3840x1600 UW ?

PC's are not struck to only a 16:9 ratio screen like game consoles they have better options ;)

I was tempted with the LG as well but having seen photos of it sat on a desk in the owners thread, decided against it. Flecking huge for sitting right infront of!

Always makes me think of this picture :D:D:D:D:D

The LG 48cx is awesome just need the right amount of space sitting from it

+1, mostly people without the space for a big desk or big enough room to wall mount and have the desk further away that like to dismiss it as an valid option for everyone else.

If you have the space, there is no better monitor for 4k.

This is why I haven't invested in the next gen GPU, I have a 32" 4k 60Hz, and it's fine but I seriously want to go to a higher refresh rate, and all the options are 27" or for me too big. so I'm keeping my money until a nice 32" or 34" max with a high refresh rate comes on the market, then I'll buy a new monitor and a new GPU.
And before anyone says anything about 1440p I just can't go back I've tried and its not too bad but I love 4k .

There this one coming out at some time if you have a very large piggy bank :D:D:D

All I want is a 34"-38", 4K, OLED, 120Hz+, HDR600+, G-SYNC, HDMI 2.1.... Not too much to ask surely ;):D:eek:

If LG would just do a 34" or 38" version of the 48CX I'd be done :p

Make that 34" to 38" with HDR 1000+ and no chance of screen burn + also no display dimming and i also buy one ;)

I agree OLED are amazing i owned my 65" OLED for 2 years

But there no way i would feel comfortable with it displaying static images for hours everyday...

Been using mine 14+ hours a day for work, games, movies, TV since June. No sign of burn in, nor do I expect to see any for many years. I use a very low brightness that's comfortable for my eyes for work/desktop etc, then ramp up the brightness for movies/TV. Games are in the middle, HDR titles I run at high brightness, MMO's/RPG's I tend to run lower brightness.

The main point is this. Lets say there was an Asus 32" - 48" (or anywhere inbetween) that had the same specs. 4K, 120Hz, Infinite HDR, infinite contrast, no QA issues, no backlight bleed, HDMI 2.1, but with a IPS panel. It would cost £3k minimum, most likely closer to £5k.

CX48 at £1450 (or cheaper) is infinitely better value. You could use one for 2 years, have it burn in (won't happen, but lets just say it does..), then buy another, and still have saved money compared to buying the imaginary Asus equivalent spec monitor, which still doesn't exist.

In my eyes it's a no-brainer, CX48 is the best 4K monitor by a long shot, as long as you have a decent sized desk/room.

Games/movies/TV looks absolutely spectacular, it's the best purchase I've made for my PC for many, many years. The last monitor that wow'd me was the NEC LCD20WGX2 back in the day, this ramps it up x1000!

I have noticed most people that have posted about having burn in on there OLED are the older 6 & 7 series..

If there no reports of burn in on these new CX's in around another 12 to 18 months then i may try one...(shame they no do a under 40" size)
Plus i don't think they have a DP input to get 4K@120hz from a 2000 series GPU or can you use an DP to HDMI adaptor to get this
