My current spec is:

AMD R7 3700X
Gigabyte AORUS P750W Plus Gold
GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
Alphenfogn Brocken ECO Advanced CPU Cooler
Gigabyte X570 GAMING X
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4

There are several 3090s available at the moment, including the Palit and Zotac options, as well as MSI SUPRIM and Giga VISION. Is there much difference between these brands?

I have a Lian-Li Lancool One Digital Midi Tower, would the card fit and what cooling would I need to keep it at decent temps?

Can’t speak for the AIB cards but I recently got a 3090FE and it runs very cool at stock.

Got a fairly large case but it sits at 62C while gaming and is very quiet. Completely over-engineered cooler but I’m not complaining.

Been OC’ing it a little and it seems to run stable at +200/+748 and only up to 65C with the power limit set at 97%. Unless you’re looking to stick a block on one I’d seriously consider the FE instead.

I will likely just run mine at stock as have never overclocked anything. Am I right in thinking that the 3090FE is not currently available?

It pops up once or twice a week on the Nvidia store, usually about 2pm, but they had some drop at 10am the other day.

Think I can post this as it’s not a competitor and OCUK don’t sell FE’s.

Thank you, I will keep an eye on the Nvidia page. I appreciate the 3080 is good enough for now but lack of stock is going to continue for a long time and at least the 3090 will future proof my build for some years to come.

I was originally looking for a 3080Ti but they weren’t released at launch, then a 6900XT but that was underwhelming.

Then looked at AIB 3080’s and realised that the really good ones weren’t massively cheaper than the 3090FE due to availability and scalpers.

Got tired of waiting and picked up a 3090FE instead as soon as I saw some stock.

No regrets so far. :D

How? You'll run out of gpu grunt before the extra vram is necessary

I don't know a huge amount about it but I have seen Cyberpunk has already pushed the 3080 so presumably the 3090 allows more room with 4k and future games? Obviously anything is 'obsolete' within 18 months regardless.

My KFA2 3090 SG is awesome. Whilst gaming about mid 60c at desktop silent zero rpm. Whisper quiet and everything maxed out at 1440p and over 100fps in all games. Just wow. Will last me maybe 4+ years it's a great card. Love it. Haven't over clocked it yet might leave that for a few weeks just enjoying everything at stock TBH

If you can afford it great but otherwise look at 3080.

There's not a lot of oompf left in the tank, it simply hits the 350W power limit. Undervolting it helps a little though, as you should be able to reach a higher frequency at the same power limit. So yeah, these cards aren't going to win any records, but they do the job.

Shiari do you use the KFA software tool Xtreme Tuner to under volt and if so what do you set it to. I've had Radeon cards for over 10 years so a bit of a noob on Nvidia cards. Got my Vega 64 sorted with under volting but could do with some help with the 3090.

I've only used MSI Afterburner, not that I really understand what I'm doing with it when it comes to setting up a curve ... but I did manage to find a point where performance no longer increases and things become unstable. Can only suggest to look for undervolting guides online.

Personally, unless you are desperate, I would wait a month now for the 3080ti.

The 3080 ti will be snapped up in a nanosecond though. If you can comfortably afford the 3090 I say go for it. Divide the cost over the number of years you plan to keep it if it makes you feel better. I'd probably go for the FE though, will have a better resale value in 4-5 years than AIBs I reckon.

What OP is suggesting is exactly what I did and the reason why.
Couldn't get a hold of a 3080 even though ordered on release day, cancelled it in November as bored of waiting.
Read about the 3080-Ti, but it will have the same issues with scalpers as the 3080.

Bought a 3090 - arrives today (hopefully).
