RTX 3090 upgrade

My 2070 SUPER hits 80C and really heats up my office. I have seen that the new cards run cooler but I don't fancy my room getting even warmer (ignoring the impact on the card/pc itself)!

You’ll have to bear in mind that the 3090FE may run cooler, but it’ll still be chucking out 350-400W of heat. Something to consider TBH.
 
Yeah I will need to consider my office arrangement this year. Running the pc, a work laptop, triple screens and a tv gets rather toasty in a small box room! I have recently gone self-employed though so AC may be justified as a business expense next year!

Mine idles at 34 ish. But I suspect a large part if this is just because I have a more aggressive fan profile.

I start the fan when the GPU reaches 38 degrees then just ramp it up to 65% at 50 degrees. Without the curve implemented I don't know what it would go up to, but I do know it idles at around 40, mainly because without the curve the fan is off.
I used to have a water cooler on the CPU but that broke and I replaced it with an air cooler, which actually made no difference to the temps.

I had a Fury X, Vega 64 and 5700XT and this 3090 is wow. Ultra settings at 1440p and well over 100fps in every game. I have a 144hz freesync monitor so limit the FPS using G-sync compatibility and it's amazing. keeper for a good 4 years + IMHO. Loving it.

It's certainly quieter and cooler than my Vega64 that's for sure even after I under vaulted it.
 
I managed to place an order for a 3090 FE earlier with an advised delivery date of tomorrow - fantastic. I receive an update to say payment taken, then just received an email to say 'you are in position 103 in our pre-order queue'... Well it was not a 'pre-order' queue, it was advised as in stock by this website. Absolute joke and will be demanding my money back tomorrow. This whole card situation is a joke.

COuld it be a bug/issue with the order system that sent you the email? Might be worth leaving it 24 hours? See if it gets dispatced? But if the entire amount has been taken and it is a pre order then agreed that's taking the **** and I'd cancel as well.

Did the same but I'm at 115. I'm going to keep it though.
3090FE is sold out now.
 
Wait a day or two, didn’t think they did pre-orders.

Probably showing as that until the stock has been checked into the warehouse.

It’ll probably turn up tomorrow anyway!
 
Presumably that could be weeks/months as with all the others then @d4v3 ? I have requested they call me tomorrow. If it is a pre-order then I will cancel as on principle I'm not having them hold my money for something that was not a pre-order.
 
I received an email to apologise for the error but then it stated stock would be allocated when available, so just seemed to be repeating the original email!

The card arrived!

I have (after some time) managed to swap out my 2070 super and install the 3090. I will see how the PSU copes over the next few weeks but I do want to upgrade my RAM. I currently have Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 and a Gigabyte X570 Gaming X DDR4 motherboard. Presumably 32GB will be sufficient for gaming purposes? Should I just go for 2 16GB sticks, whatever is fastest 'bang for buck'?
