Yep will keep an eye out with interest now the scalper prices have calmed down, maybe looking to change my 7900XTX to this . At a £400 cost after selling my 7900 it might be worth doing to play AAA titles with Ray/Path tracing. 5090 is going to be out of my price range.

Anyone managed to O/C for 4090 performance yet ?

I've overclocked mine and pretty much managed to reach near 4090 perf in a few things. Experience so far is good and DLSS is very nice, Only thing I'm not keen on is multi frame gen as in most things it introduces a noticeable hitch every now and then.

And i think this might just be tbe sweet spot , although lack of vram might be a future consideration . Buying g a used 4090 has no warranty and currently prices are still 1500 to 2k - why ? £1500 extra for a 5090 is absolutely bonkers.

Arrrrrrrr , stick with 7900XTX or get a 5800 , decision decision.

Stick with the 7900XTX, 5080 is nice but it's not enough of a jump in performance IMO and 5090 is just stupid money, I'd personally wait until either AMD re-enter the high end with their next gen UDNA or Nvidia's 6000 series.

Here's mines :) Probably the smallest of the 5080's (behind the FE maybe) the MSI Inspire 3X.

Got it clocked at +200 Core (3ghz solid) and +1504 Mem and it runs brilliantly. I will admit this model is a mixed bag with fan noise as it's so game dependant - Warzone/Avowed/Indiana Jones are 3 examples where it will sit around 1600-1700 RPM so really quiet and then Cyberpunk/PUBG/EA Sports FC it goes to around 2200-2400 RPM so it isn't exactly quiet at that point but if you are using audio of any sort you won't hear it, it's not that bad.

In saying that really impressed with the OC potential and I've had +300 on the core in benchmarks, going to mess around with it more over time.

5080 Zotac Amp - 9300 in Steelnomad which isn’t far from a stock 4090. I think there’s another 100 points in it when I get round to messing again.

Yeh I moved from AMD as I wanted the RT. And to be fair it’s fantastic with DLSS set to quality in games like Alan Wake 2. Then you have the MFG which beats my expectations. Unbelievable in games like Cyberpunk with a 240hz OLED.

I've noticed a lot of micro stutter with MFG in CP2077, X2 is ok but any higher and I can't unsee it.

I’ve got next to nothing even with x4. Latency is about 50m/s. Hitting anround 180-220 fps and I believe the 240hz display smooths it out further. Are you running any mods? Cybertweaks I disabled as it was causing those sorts of issues.

Nope, Completely vanilla. I'll have a look around later.

watching this with interest. I need to upgrade from my 2070 super and was going to get a 9070XT but a lot of the games I am wanting to play will need RT so might need to stick with NVIDIA. All the videos and articles I read about melting power connectors is making me super paranoid though.

I have a Gigabyte Gaming OC, no photo unfortunately and I've a solid case so nothing to look at anyway!

Running at +300 on the core, +750 on the VRAM with a slight undervolt. I upgraded from a 3090ti as I wanted to use Ray tracing and have been really impressed with Indiana Jones, Cyberpunk and GTA5 enhanced. With 2x frame gen, DLSSQ with everything maxed on Cyberpunk gets well over 100fps and with the undervolt it is probably the quietest card I've ever had. I'm quite glad the pre-orders were so carp with the 5090 as it gave me time to think about it, I'm not sure I need anything more than a 5080 for 3440 tbh, plus my old card used to eventually boil me at 420 odd Watts so having the choice of ~320w and pretty much stock 4090 performance or ~240w and stock 5080 perf is pretty great.

That's a great score. I managed to just get above 9000 with mine once, but it was nowhere near stable.

What settings are you using?

I think you'll find AMD has caught up a lot with RT performance, if I was buying a card now it'd be a 9070 or 9070xt all day long. Nvidia had a big RT advantage over previous AMD gens, that's no longer the case. Their lead has been narrowed considerably. Check the benchmarks, AMD for once appear to have not ****** up a launch this time around.

Edit: Re melting plugs, I would worry far less about that on a 5080. A 5090 is a different matter however.
